Fusion Card Challenge - Mermaid

I know you like to make cards or you probably wouldn't be here. Maybe you're looking for a break from your holiday cards and longing for something a little different? A new challenge begins today at Fusion Card Challenge and it's seriously a sweet escape!
Check out the photo inspiration this time! I'm loving that mermaid tail peeking out from blue waves of buttercream filling! Oooh!!!!! ... and the colorful sprinkles too! Addicted to sugar much? LOL!

Not loving the photo? That's ok.. you can work with the sketch!
This is what I made! I immediately thought of the Spellbinders Jane Davenport Mertail die set. I cut it from white card stock and then inked it in shades of blue distress ink. I inlayed the tail in a panel I inked with distress ink. I tucked some gold glitter paper under the Mertail so it shines through the die openings.
The waves were cut from white card stock and colored with Copic Markers. The shell is cut twice - once from white cardstock and once from gold foil. I attached the large shells at a slight over lap and inlayed the gold cut-aways in the white shell.
A good sprinkle of gems and pearls replicate the cupcake toppings and make sweet candy for the eyes.
Now it's your turn!
Are you ready to play? I wonder how you will interpret the photo! Maybe you need a little more inspiration? Check out designs from the rest of the team. Just click on their names below to jump to their blogs.

The 12 Kits of Occasions - Autumn Days

It's the last day of the month and you know what that means right? It's time for The 12 Kits of Occasions! The 12 Kits of Occasions is a group of 12 friends who all love to paper craft. Every month we take turns making a kit for the rest of the group. We all receive the same kit with the same items. On the last day of the month we reveal what we each made with the kit. It's fun to see how we used the product in different ways. Sometimes the projects are similar and sometimes they are very different.
Our hostess this month is Sharron Gregory - from On Papillon Wings blog. She's been working through some medical problems and was a real gem pushing through and putting this beautiful kit together for us. The kit is fall themed with lots of good things.. die cuts from Spellbinders, images from Fun Stampers Journey, Penny Black and Stamping Bella. Those gorgeous papers are from Craftsmart (I wish you could see them in person!).

Sharron is a nature lover and I think this kit really reflects her style. She likes to spend time in the garden and watch the birds.. so you know you'll find a few in this kit! I've got 4 cards made! I ran out of time or I could have kept going!
Any time I get a new kit from one of the ladies there is something included that I can't resist. I'm smitten with this Acorn die set from Spellbinders. If you love it too you better grab it quick! It's on sale at Spellbinders for $10 here!
Ready to see more cards fall inspired cards made with Sharron's wonderful kit? Check out The 12 Kits of Occasions Blog where you'll see a sample from each of the designers or click on these links below!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

SPDMIX60 - Eat Pie

Are you looking for a challenge to play? Check out this month's Mix It Up Challenge at Sugar Pea Designs!

I spy some pumpkin pie! YUM!!! Not loving the inspiration photo? That's ok! There are three ways to play! You can work with the photo, the sketch OR the color swatches!
Here's what I made! I die cut the Large Striped Cover plate from white card stock. Next I cut the stripes from shades of orange and inlaid them into the die cut openings. I save all my card stock scraps in a 9 x13" cake pan sorted by color so it was easy to grab several different colors at one time. The pan is stored on a roll cart that slides under my work desk.
I stamped the sentiment from Sweet as pie on the stitched oval on the panel die cut, and embellished the card with YUM! Pumpkin pie! I love the little whipped cream dollups!
All of the images are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers.
Now it's your turn! I sure hope you'll join us at the Sugar Pea Designs Mix It Up Challenge. You can always find it on the SPD blog by clicking the challenge badge in the right hand column.

Momenta SnowyTown

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great day. It's rainy here so I thought I'd stay inside and make some Christmas cards with my latest haul from Hobby Lobby. If you haven't looked at their selection of Momenta dies in a while it's time you give them another visit!
They have lots of exclusive dies at the store including this full size panel die that makes quick and easy cards.
This beautiful intricate die looks fabulous over pattern paper, glitter cardstock or how about a distress ink panel like the one on my card today?
I love using non traditional colors for holidays and I think this purple and pink starry sky is beautiful here. The die even includes little stars to dot the sky. You can keep them where they are if you use an inlay technique. The only thing I added was a few gems for the snowflake centers.
You'll find lots of beautiful Momenta dies, stamps and embossing folders ready for your holiday cards at your local Hobby Lobby. They're affordably priced and YES! you can use your store coupon! SCORE!

Birds of a Feather - Friends Forever!

I just can't get enough of the Pretty Little Studio new Indian Summer Collection! I love bright colors and this collection is a feast for my eyes! It's absolutely everything I love about autumn.. colorful leaves, florals, and even some cute critters like this owl!
This card started with that fancy gold frame from the Timeless die cut frames pack. This pack includes 6 black printed frames, and 6 gold frames with florals. And if that wasn't enough, the pack includes 9 more die cuts - florals and leaves. I added some pattern paper to the back of the die cut frame as the focal point of my card. These pretty frames also make beautiful shakers filled with sequins.
I adore this purple owl! She has pretty flowers in her hair and a little feather too! She's from the Happy Place 2 die cut pack and I smile every time I see her!
I added more florals at the top of the frame to balance the design. They're adhered with adhesive foam tape for some dimension, and a Oak branch is tucked underneath. Both of these are from the Time Together die cut pack.
Have a great day my friends! We're birds of a feather, friends forever!
