My Creative Scrapbook July Main Kit

Are you looking for a nice way to treat yourself? How about trying a subscription to the My Creative Scrapbook Main Kit of the Month? They select the pattern paper and lots of coordinating supplies and deliver it straight to your front door so all you have to focus on is MAKING! Every month they have several kits to choose from.. their Main Kit, LE - Limited Edition, Creative Kit and Album Kit - so you can choose what's right for you

Here's a peek at the July Kit! I spy the Vicki Boutin Color Story Collection by American Crafts! You'll find 12" sheets of heavy weight pattern paper prints, tags, die cut images, stickers, and MORE!
I love a rainbow of color so this kit really spoke to me! You'll find lots of florals, a few butterflies and birds and awesome rainbow graphics like color wheels, paint pans, pencils and brushes.

If you look close you'll see there are some foil accented pieces in the collection as well like the little stars on this card, some hearts and on a few of the sentiments too.
In addition to all the beautiful color, the collection has a splash of black for great contrast and striking combinations.
The die cuts include journaling pieces, tabbed cards, ticket shaped pieces and lots of sentiments too!
I'm entering one of my cards at Craftyhazelnut's Pattern Paper Challenge

One of the best perks of a club kit is the ideas you'll get for making with your kit. My Creative Scrapbook has a complete design team with varied styles to inspire you. If you're looking for ideas after you receive the kit.. there's an entire gallery of project ideas on the My Creative Scrapbook website so you'll always be inspired! I made 9 cards with this kit and you'll find the projects posted in their gallery as well as on this blog throughout the month.

Fusion Challenge
Lemon Hydrangea

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great day! If you're looking for a new challenge you'll find another winner at Fusion Card Challenge . You'll love this challenge because there are three ways to play.. you can play along with the sketch, be inspired by the photo, or FUSE them together and play with BOTH!
I'm always drawn to the inspiration photo. This time I spy some blue hydrangea in glass vases filled with lemons! You can interpret the photo as you like.. perhaps some florals or fruit? How about the blue and yellow colors? Maybe you're not inspired by what you see in the photo.. that's ok!!! You're welcome to play along with the sketch. If you're feeling really clever you can FUSE them together.

I saw the hydrangea in the photo and immediately thought of The Stamp Market Ready to Bloom die. I die cut the flowers and inked them with Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass and Blueprint Sketch. Next I die cut and inked the Leaves background in Distress Oxide Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn.

I adhered the blooms and leaves to a background inked with Squeezed Lemonade distress ink. A stamped sentiment from Modern Messages was added with foam tape as well as some lemons from the Citrus Vine stamp set. .
I couldn't resist adding jewels to all the flower centers. I've decided to stop hoarding the jewels and be generous with more than a few!
Now it's your turn! I can't wait to see how you interpret the inspiration photo OR the sketch. Maybe you need a little more inspiration? Check out designs from the rest of the team. Just click on their names below to jump to their blogs.

I hope I see you at Fusion Card Challenge! It's a great place to play and make new friends! I'm always inspired by the team as well as the linked up designs!

Poppystamps July Challenge

Hi and thanks for stopping by! Today I'm reminding you that there's still time to join us for our July Challenge. On the first of every month Poppystamps announces a new challenge - this month - July 2021 we want you to "Just Add Water".

We're asking you to create a design that includes water.. that could be (but is not limited to) watercolor, a splash of water over some distress ink, maybe your favorite spritz spray!!! Not feeling like getting messy? How about a rainy day scene, or a seascape? All types of projects are welcome from tags and treat wraps to cards and home decor! It's your choice, just be sure to use at least one Poppystamps image (stamp or die) on your project!
My card starts with a Distress Oxide panel of paper. I inked it with Twisted Citron, Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar. I like to use cosmetic brushes for a clean look. You can find different sized brushes on Amazon. Distress Oxide Ink stays wet longer so you have more time to blend too. Next I splashed the panel with water and some watered down white ink. When it was dry I trimmed the panel so that it's slightly smaller than my card base and adhered it to the card.

Next I cut the Leafy Garden Border from white card stock twice. I trimmed them with about 1/4" along their outer edges and adhered them to either side of my inky panel. I topped the panel with a Luscious Script Hello. The background is cut from gold foil and the detailed word die is cut from white card stock.
Intricate Cut Butterflies are also double cut - once from gold glitter paper and once from card stock . They're stacked and the top butterfly wings are bendable to add dimension. Gold sequins add a finishing touch and a little more bling.
This angle photo shows that the sentiment and butterflies are adhered with adhesive foam tape to add dimension and a richer look to the design.
I hope I inspired you to dig out your distress inks and give them a little splash of water - how about some smooshing? Either way you're still able to enter our challenge. Just snap a photo of your completed project with your cell phone, add it to your Instagram and link up to there! We can't wait to see what you make!

Simple Stories Lemon Twist Collection

If you’ve ever wished you could capture sunshine on paper look no further! The Simple Stories Lemon Twist is just about as bright and cheery as it gets!
You’ll love the bright lemon and aqua blue color combination, pretty gingham and plaid prints as well as the country fresh images of florals and of course.. juicy lemons!
My cards always start with the chipboard and printed die cut bits and pieces arranged on pieces of plastic the size of my card front. I can mix and match until my heart is content before adhering the pieces in place.
The clear plastic also makes it easy to slide pattern paper underneath and decide what prints I like best. I like stacking pieces on the 3x4 journaling cards.
The finishing touches are washi, decorative brads and the little hearts you’ll find in the chipboard, and bits and pieces packs.
This collection also has a coordinating Basics pack that helps you break up your patterns with some solids. I like to use the solid cardstock paper for clean line matts behind the pattern paper.
You'll find lots of sentiments in this collection to help complete your cards and convey your well wishes. You’ll find sentiments in the bits and pieces, chipboard, stickers and even on some of the brads! I really like the dramatic banners in black!

I’ll be sending these cards to spread a little sunshine and smiles, and to remind friends and family to “Squeeze the Day” and enjoy the “sweet” moments.
The Lemon Twist vintage images and bright cheery colors are sure to send smiles or make new ones as you flip through journals made with this sweet collection.
