TRR#50 - Mix and Match

I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter weekend.  I always like making the "day after" a big holiday a big lazy holiday for ME!  I do so much cooking and cleaning to get the house ready for company that I need a day to recuperate   In all reality though I will  spend a few hours cleaning up all evidence that there was a house full of people - some quick vacuuming and putting away dishes and pans that have been left out overnight.  Maybe my sleepy head son will help me out... NOT!

If you are planning on a lazy day like me you might want to check out The Ribbon Reel Challenge this week.  The inspiration photo was chosen by Michelle and you are to create a card mixing  and matching papers - one solid color paper and two pattern papers.  Easy peasy right?  I made a birthday card using some papers from October Afternoon and of course some solid red for the scallop border.  The stamps are from the last Waltzingmouse release, and of course some pretty trims from The Ribbon Reel Store.

Need a little inspiration? Check out the rest of the DT designs for a quick jump start!

Have a beautiful day! Where ever you are I hope Spring is sprung and the sun is shining!

12 Kits of Holidays - March Edition

Welcome to the March Edition of the 12 Kits of Holidays.   We used to be the 12 Kits of Christmas but decided to add some other holidays in here as well this year.  Just to refresh your memory, the 12 Kits is a group of 12 designers.  We've each been assigned one month to supply goodies to the rest of the group.   We all get the same ingredients to work with and on the last day of the month we reveal our creations!  It's interesting to see how we all use the same ingredients just a little differently to showcase our own style.  The hostess this month is Ms. Tracey McNeely from "In My Creative Opinion" blog.  It was so neat to get this package all the way from Canada!

Tracey is a very C&S gal and this kit was totally her style - meaning the images were clean and graphic.   She provided a generous rainbow of solid card stock, pattern papers and cute images for Easter/Spring.  She even included some pretty ribbons (satin, ric rac, stitched and grosgrain) and gems to satisfy a fru fru gal like me.  I like to keep the kits "as is" - meaning I don't like to add much to the supplies I receive.  I think I'm getting a little more C&S with this philosophy and it challenges me to deal with the clean wide open spaces.  The first thing I did when I opened the envelope was color the little chickie and bunny - they're just adorable!  I made 4 cards this time!
Whew!  Mission accomplished! I'm really happy with how they turned out!  I hope you will check out the other designs from the rest of the team - seriously neat to see some of the different ways we use the ingredients!  I'm curious to see how the others used the round paper clips.  I just couldn't figure out a way to squeeze them in here!

Thanks for stopping by!

CASE Study #134 - Funky Florals

I know it's a busy week right?  So much to get ready for Easter this Sunday!  I'll be making a big Polish dinner for my family.  I try to do things a little at a time -shop on one day, set the table the next, make deserts the day before to make it a little easier.  This is the first year my daughter won't be eating with us  - she is stuck at work (her first job).

Well hopefully you have all your ducks in a row too and have some time to play this week!  Maybe you can sneak off for a little quiet time.  I know you will want to be checking out the CASE Study challenge.   Have you seen the new face look that Chupa's given the blog??  There's new badges too!   This is the last week for our muse of the month Julie Ebersole from Paper Trufflez blog.  Check out the inspiration photo all you C&S junkies out there.  I loved how Julie stamped the blue on top of the green and the row of dots along the bottom.  I stamped my flowers in three different colors and ran a border punch along the bottom to get the pierced look of Julie's card.

Check out what the rest of the design team did with this one - lots of different ways you can take this to the next level and make it all your own!

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger -Pretty Pastels

Hi friends!  I'm going to keep this short - my son is on Spring Break and now we both have the flu so we decided to have a movie marathon - Lord of the Rings all day and all night!  It's been a while since I've seen it - I know we should really start with The Hobbit but he saw it recently at the theatre and broke it to me gently that it's "to be continued".  I'm not a patient sort of person so I think I will wait until I can see them together. I will have to be strong!

I saw this inspiration photo over at Moxie Fab - it's the Tuesday Trigger - and doesn't it just look so yummy?  All those pastels ... sigh...   Cath picks out the best images from Pinterest!    I don't know how much I will get done this week but this one sort of sums up my mood for today.  Got some good news from my bestie Cathy that she is on her way home and that just helps everything in the world seem right again!  I stamped lots of pastel flowers randomly, along with a gingham panel - and can you spot my newest addiction on this?  If you said ric rac you are 100% correct!  I just can't resist it lately - I think it just screams fun!
Thanks for having a look - have a great day!
Hugs and Easter Blessings!

WPlus9 Monday Mood Board #7 - Buttons

I hope everyone is doing good!  I can't believe how cold it is here lately - I was starting to think Spring was here but it's been windy and cold for several days now.  You can see just a hint of snow in the air, not enough to collect on the ground.  There are some signs of spring though - some sprigs of green stems of daffodils peeking up out of the ground.  I think the chipmunks are active too because our dog, who is a year old now has been digging at the entrances of their tunnels leaving holes all over the yard!    My son is on Spring break and has the flu so I've been playing nurse!  I blame it on his weekend camp out at the Indiana Dunes.  I mean who camps in the winter?  I know .. I know... real men right?

I'm playing along today with the WPlus9 Monday Mood Board.  Here's the inspiration photo.  Lots of goodies in here you can pick up on - the sewing elements, doily, and all those pretty colors (green, blue, orange, yellow) and yummy patterns (polka dots, stripes, damask, floral).  Lots of great stamps sets that would work well here too.  I grabbed the frame from the Class Act set to make my button card, and started playing around with the buttons in the lacy layers but settled on real buttons for the bling factor - no contest - shiny plastic buttons, or flat stamped ones?  Don't need to ask me twice!  I love all the bright colors here - especially the turquoise (bet you couldn't just guess that looking at my card!  HAHA!)

Thanks for having a peek - if you'd like to play along you can get all the details here.

WPLUS9 Monday Mood Board - Easter Eggs

Today I'm playing along with the WPlus9 Monday Mood Board.  I'm lovin the weekly challenges and enjoying creating with my WPlus9 stamps.  For me making a card is like putting together a puzzle - you know - sometimes they sit there for days until you get just the right piece in the right place.  That's sort of how my cards work.  Sometimes they come to me easy and sometimes not so much.  Either way I always like to have one in the works that I can play around with until I'm happy.   It just relaxes me and gives me a feeling of satisfaction when it all comes together.

I saw this inspiration photo and of course I focused on the yellow and purple - I love the way they complement each other.  Gotta admit I'm a little short on Easter cards so this is all good with me.  I stamped the backgrounds and added a sweet tag with pearls.   I hope you like it.
If you'd like to play along with the Monday Mood Board you can get all the details here!  Thanks for having a look and have a beautiful day!

CASE STUDY #133 - Sunrise

I thought Spring was in the air for the Midwest, but WOW is it ever cold today.  It's really windy too.  I mean the kind of cold that burns your skin.   It's really deceiving because the sun is shining and you would think it is a really beautiful day out there but the joke would be on you!  I stood next to the car jumping up and down while I pumped gas ($3.97 a gallon here if you're interested! - YES that's high!!)   So after I got my errands done today I decided to park myself in my craft room and make warm things!

Ready for your weekly does of CASE Study Inspiration?  Our muse this month is Julie Ebersole from Paper Trufflez blog!   I love that CASE they showcase designers with unique and interesting approaches and that I can take chances trying new things while I CASE (copy and share everything) their cards.  Just focus on what you like on the inspiration photo and make it all yours!  I was really taken by all the die cuts and the fun ways they were used on this card.  I mean you've got clouds cut out and grass layered on top and oh those bright colors - so fun!  I wanted to keep it outdoors and layer on the color so I made sunrise over water.   The waves are the negative side of a scallop border die.
I added a bit of washi in a chevron pattern to tie it back to Julie's design.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM!!!!  Today some friends and I are celebrating the birthday of one Ms. Kim Heggins of the Cupcakes, Cards & Kim Blog!  I was blessed to meet Kim while enjoying the benefits of being a member of the 12 Kits of Christmas Club.  Birthdays always make me think of my mom still telling me about "the day I was born" and I got to thinking that  since  Kim is so sweet and cheerful - maybe it was because she was born on a beautiful Spring day!!  Kim is as sweet as they come and always makes me happy so here's wishing you sunshine and happiness Kim!!  God Bless and Lots of Love!!!

SSCB#8 Center Step Card

Hippitty Hoppity Easter's on it's way!  Don't you wish Easter was on the same day every year?  Like Christmas, Valentine's and St. Patrick's Day?  Holidays with moving dates create such havoc for absent minded people like myself.  I guess what threw me about Easter this year is that it's in March!    Just wait until next year when it's on April 20.  Better get hopping and get those Easter cards made!

Today I'm playing along with the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog.  Twice a month there is a new challenge.  This time it's to make a step card - which looks so impressive, but is oh so easy to make!  You can get easy directions here courtesy of Split Coast Stampers.  I covered the front panel of mine with patterned paper and then embellished it with die cuts a bow, and a bit of velvet ribbon.  The little guy was stamped and colored twice and then layered for more dimension.
If you need a little more inspiration check out the other creations from the design team - just click on their names below.

We'd love to see you playing at Serendipity Stamps - it's a great place to make new friends and you could win a $20 discount off your next order!  Oh and the sale of the week  is 20% off Baby and Childhood - http://www.serendipitystamps.com/category/baby-and-childhood.html  Through 3/27.

TRRC#49 Spring Cottage

If you love all sorts of pretty embellishments like ribbon, twine, paper flowers, buttons, and pins then  The Ribbon Reel Challenge is just for you my friend!  The Ribbon Reel Store has all sorts of gorgeous embellishments to make any ordinary project simply delicious!  They sponsor a bi monthly challenge to give you an excuse to dig those goodies out and put them to work on something extra ordinary.

The inspiration photo this week was selected by Design Team member Tammy Hobbs of Creating Somewhere Under the Sun and is called "Spring Cottage"  You are instructed to use the colors in the photo specifically Pink, Yellow and Aqua and to add some ribbon and a flower.  It literally got me day dreaming about spring - digging my bike out of the garage, those summer dresses had me putting away the sweaters, and the little picket fence had me thinking about my garden.  Everything is still grey here, but I've heard the Sandhill Cranes whirling overhead -they migrate in the spring and fall - a good sign that Spring isn't too far off.  I incorporated lots of these elements into my card.  I hope it gets you thinking of Spring and bright sunny days!
Hop on over to the rest of the design team member blogs to see what they came up with for this one.  If your a frou frou girl like me, all the eye candy will be sure to please.

Have a great day!
