WMSC126 - Sent with Love

Happy Saturday!  I am hoping for a quiet weekend of catch up time (isn't that always my wish?)  It seems like every time I get started on something there is an interruption lately!  I've been working on a few things behind the scenes and should have more exciting news for you soon!  Don't you just love a secret?  Me neither!  Ahhh.. we will both have to wait... but soon ... I promise!!
In my typical Saturday morning fashion I will be checking for the new sketch and winners at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog.   Well how do you like this beauty of a design from our very own Chupa?  I love her style and great use of color - I always feel happy after I leave her blog Random Acts of Creativity and I am totally loving this sketch!  Since it's December 1st I wanted to ring in the month with a Christmas card.  I tried to CASE Chupa a bit and use lots of color on this one - and of course lots of little accents and embellishments for our viewing pleasure!  Here's some close ups!

This was my first time using this set that I got a while back.  It was lots of fun piecing together the lid and the jar as well as stamping the little sentiment inside the tag!   I couldn't resist adding that bitty reindeer - it's from the ornament in the 2011Holiday Ornaments  set.  I just taped off the image inked it up and then removed the tape before stamping.

I hope you find some quiet time too this weekend and that I will see you at WMSC!  Be good!

Pastel Christmas

I hope you are having a good day!  I can't believe Thanksgiving was already a week ago - time is flying again!  The weather is turning cold here - but I'm still catching site of  birds on the migration path - big groups of Sandhill Cranes whirling overhead (one of my favorite sounds), and groups of Robin stopping by for a dip in my heated bird bath!

The card I've made for today has been inspired by this photo by The Ribbon Reel, this sketch by Retro Sketches, and I'm entering it in at the Cheery Lynn Challenge Blog as well.  I'm just playing for fun so I hope they don't mind!  I think it's fun to mix challenges - sometimes you see an inspiration photo and just don't know where to start and a sketch is the perfect jump start!

I am so happy I got to use some Washi in this one too!  I think it looks sweet peeking out from under that Cheery Lynn Die.
Thanks for stopping by and find some time to play!

Hugs!

CASE Study #119 Sunshine & Rainbows

Hi Everybody!  I hope you are all off to a good start today!    I've been spending some time trying to get a little more organized in keeping my galleries up to date.  Have you ever gotten lost on Pinterest for hours and hours?  Nothing hard to imagine there huh?

There are so many places to find inspiration!!  CASE Study is the only place I know that features the work of a selected designer for a whole month.   I've been introduced to so many wonderful crafters there!  This is the last week for our monthly muse Angeline Yong.  I've really enjoyed her C&S style getting me to try some new things.  Here's the inspiration photo for the week.  What grabs you?  All the colors, the layout, the stripes from the twine,  the pretty embossing and the bold sentiment?  Well you can spin this sweet little design any way you like and make it all your own.  When I saw the lollipop image I immediately thought of the pinwheel die I recently ordered (and had yet to use!) and thought it would be perfect.   I kept the layout pretty much the same adhering the pinwheel with my latest addiction.. a bit of washi in stripes to tie in with the twine in the photo.

You might want to check out what the rest of the design team came up with for this challenge.  I know you will be seriously inspired!    Just click on their names below to jump to their  blog.

The Ribbon Reel Challenge Blog DT Announcement

I have some exciting news today!  Recently the Ribbon Reel Challenge Blog announced that they were looking for some new design team members.  Well you know I love flowers and ribbons and bows - so of course I had to try out.    Their inspiration photos are always breath taking!  This is the inspiration photo that we were assigned to work with, and of course we had to include some ribbon or lace (no problem there !!)

Well I kept my fingers crossed and I sweated out the wait ... and ...  I am so happy to announce I am one of the new Ribbon Reel girls!!   I hope I will find you there playing along!  There is SO much eye candy every challenge that you're sure to see something that you absolutely adore!

Here's the card I created
I used the tea time image from Serendipity Stamps and colored it up just enough to highlight the designs on the china.  I fussy cut it and layered it on a beautiful Cheery Lynn doily and added lots of pretty ribbon and flowers.  If you are loving all that trim and flowers the Ribbon Reel is just for you!  Thanks for sharing my happy news with me!  If you'd like to meet the other ladies who will be joining the Ribbon Reel team and see their designs click here.  Have a beautiful day!

Bringing Home The Tree

I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving! I cooked a big bird with all the fixings and had family over to help eat it all. We played cards well into the night even though I felt like just laying on the couch! Binker got her stitches out over the weekend so I am starting to walk again - she and I both need to get back into shape after all that feasting!!

I think it's ok now to start thinking Christmas and making spirits bright and all that!  How do you like this image from Serendipity?  The wood mounted version is on special for 50% off right now!  I colored it up with Copic markers.  I loved the green in the tree so I had to carry it outside the image.  I fussy cut a green matt just a little bigger than the image label to frame it.
The bow is made with wired ribbon which makes it so much easier to shape.  I topped that with a little twine and some floral berries that I picked up at Joann.  Everything is hot glued together so it all stays put.

Thanks for having a look and have a great day!

WMSC #125 Camellia

Happy Saturday!  I hope everyone is enjoying a long holiday weekend - getting some great deals at the stores, spending time with family, maybe catching a football game!  I'm watching for some good deals on some of my favorite paper crafting supplies too!  That way when my husband asks "What do you want for Christmas?" I can tell him - "no worries, I already got it!"  By Sunday things should wind down a little and you can sneak off for a little crafty time!
It's time for your weekly dose of Waltzingmouse goodness!  The sketch design this week is by Mischief Maker, Jean Martin of Stampin' Scrapper blog.  Jean makes some beautiful, striking creations and this design is all her!  Lots of room to play and have fun with this one!  I love those pennant shapes in the background and that circle in the middle to show off your most favorite Waltzingmouse Stamp!  I just got my Camellias set and had to see if I could do them justice.  I stamped them in purple ink and colored them up with some Copic markers.  I fussy cut a large and small flower and layered them for some extra dimension.  Here's a few close ups......
I hope you find time to play - If you need a little inspiration there are lots of examples by the Mischief Makers to get you started!  You can click here to jump to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog site.   Have a great day!

Geese in Flight

I hope you all had a beautiful Thanksgiving!  I don't know about you, but I could use a rest.  I think we will be eating left overs for a week!   I just got this stamp a week ago and couldn't wait to color it up!  I love the natural setting and the motion of the geese in flight.

I wanted to make a masculine card for my dad who always finds time to look at the birds!  He doesn't always know their names, but he always tries to describe them to me - either their unusual color, shape, or silly antics at the bird feeder.  I know he will love these geese - they are very common here in the Midwest and always a sight to see!

Are you addicted to washi too?  I just had to add a little stripe of color here and some red washi was jus the thing!  I hope you have a great day!

Case Study #118 - Celebrate The Season

Happy Thanksgiving!!!  I hope you have a beautiful day planned surrounded by friends and family!  Maybe you are surfing the web while you're waiting for company - or dinner to come out of the oven?  Well, are you ready for your weekly dose of CASE inspiration?  The muse for this month is Angeline Yong of The Creation of Creativity blog. She has such a clean style and her designs are always stunning! If you are a C&S style gal you just have to play along this month!  Check out the inspiration photo this week!

Case always inspires me to try something new and work outside my comfort zone and Angeline is challenging me again this week!  One layer, C&S is definitely not me but I knew I wanted to give this a try.  Where Angeline's card is a delight of fall colors and leaves, mine is all decked out for the holidays like a sprinkle of  Christmas confetti!  I really enjoyed stamping this pattern and dipping into so many pretty ink colors!
I hope you will visit the other CASE Design Team Members to see what they came up with for this week's inspiration.  Just click on their names below to jump to their blog.

Serendipity Stamps Challenge - One Layer Card

All our fall celebrating seems like it is coming to a climax as we reach Thanksgiving.  We jump into Christmas so fast - there are Christmas decorations at the stores, and Christmas music on the radio.   I hope you take this week slow and enjoy being with friends and family.  Take some time to count your blessings and remember all that you are thankful for!
Thanks for joining me today for the Serendipity Stamps Challenge.   Mary, the owner of Serendipity, was a real trixie this time and challenged the Design Team to come up with a one layer card - just ink and paper - no frills!  A few of us were going to start a protest, but decided to be good sports and give it a go.  I am so glad I did because I am so happy with how this card turned out!

This one was easy - and thankfully it doesn't look naked to me or it would be back to the drawing board!  I think it's all the color that I find so satisfying!  I centered the sentiment on the card and simply stamped the Japanese maple image in three different colors of ink.
I hope you will check out the creations the rest of the design team came up with.  I am sure it will be nothing short of amazing!  Simply click on their names below to jump to their blogs.
