Winter Friends

Hi friends! I hope you're doing well! We're still getting by here and working through some medical issues for DH. Sometimes it's hard to say one day at a time. Now more than ever I appreciate my craft time mostly because I don't get to do it as much as I'd like, and also because it helps me focus on better days. I'm linking up to Critter Crazy Challenge where critters need to be the focus of your design.

My card today features the Pink & Main Flurry of Fun stamp set! It's got some cute polar bears and penguins having snow much fun!

I love that the set includes the critters, accessories and even a few sentiments so pretty much everything you need is in one stamp set.

The pretty papers are from the Chill in the Air paper pack. It's got lots of great winter prints like the cable knit and plaid I used on my card.

Snow Much Fun!

Today I'm playing at Just Add Ink where this time you're asked to add something seasonal. With the big winter storm taking up all the headlines how can I resist adding a snowman?

Sometimes I wish I could hold onto the joy of a child when they see the magic in snowfall. I suppose as we grow up it seems like more of a burden.. clearing the walks, making sure that our families are safe and warm and fed.

For my card today I created a snowy background of Chill In The Air pattern papers. Dots become snowfall, and die cut waves are drifts of snow.

I stamped the sentiment directly on the pattern paper and then die cut, assembled, and adhered the snowman into the scene. A few gems - the berries on his hat and larger ones in the air add some sparkle and shine.

I hope you're keeping warm and are able to sit indoors and enjoy the beauty of the snow today.

Winter Flurry of Fun!

Today I'm playing at Love Those Pretty Papers where it's Anything Goes with an Optional Snowman! It's so cold here in the Midwest and every day brings something new.. usually a fresh dusting of snow so rather than fight it I'm embracing it!

My card starts with pretty papers from Pink and Main's Chill In The Air pattern paper pack. It's classic winter shades of blue with a pop of red for some contrast. The prints are snowflakes, dots, plaids, stripes and more!

The images and sentiment are from the Flurry of Fun stamp set. I t includes the bears, snowman and even a few penguins as well as some snowballs and drifts of snow so you can make a scene card.

I added a few gems to look like snowflakes or sparkling snow. The images were left mostly white and uncolored so this came together fast!

I hope you're staying warm inside, and if you have to venture out make sure you bundle up!

Warm Winter Wishes

Today I'm playing at the Neglected Stuff Challenge and the item I feel is most neglected in my craft room at the moment is my foil laminator. I'll be honest.. I never had much luck with the Spellbinders Glimmer machine.. I cringe at the amount of paper I've thrown away at 50 cents a sheet. And while alot of it would be "passable" in the real world.. when you're taking close ups like me and you're looking through a zoom lens you really see all the flaws. That kind of turned me off foiling.

The solution for me is the Pink and Main Minc machine. With this process you use preprinted toner sheets called Foilables, and you laminate them with your choice of Cheerfoil colors and let me tell you there are ALOT! This system even works well with toner sheets you create yourself using a laser printer. These are perfect every time and totally flawless. The only problem here? Trying to photograph the shiny foil so that it doesn't look black! I guess you can't win them all!

These Foilable sheets are printed in color and I just added a Translucent Opal foil to them so the color still shows through. For this card I used a snowflake panel and added gems to all the snowflake centers.

The Foilable pack I used is called Winter Spotlight Sayings. You can use the coordinating die set to cut out the sentiments and/or the individual snowflakes. I used the snowflake panel as a background for my design. You can see the photography issues below.

I want you to see all that shine, but when it's too shiny you get alot of glare.. so I'm still neglecting my foil on my blog. But not because it's not working, but because i need to sort out my photography!
