SSCB#27 - Chalked Shell Wreath

A new challenge begins today at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog!  This time you are asked to make a project that features some chalk coloring. Just link up your projects here for your chance to win $20 off your next order.  You must use one Serendipity Stamps die or stamp on your project.   Everyone is a winner though because there are more than 100 stamps on our 50% Off Wood Mounted Sale.  Also, 3 different grab bags – unmounted,  sticky cushion, and cling cushion.   Each has 10 small stamps.   Just search for “grab bag”

I haven't done much  with chalk before other than distress the edges of paper so I had some learning to do for this one. I didn't want to run out and buy anything - better to use what I have on hand (especially around the holidays).     I purchased several of these Pebbles chalk palates a few years back because I was smitten with all the colors and shimmery  look of them.    They came with this little clip applicator. You grab the pom pom you need and color away.  I was disappointed by the lack of control that the pom poms had to offer so I tried a few more things,  foam applicators, paint brush, cotton swab and finally these paper stumps that I bought for a different experiment.  The stumps worked perfectly for the small areas- they allowed me to blend too.  What's really neat about them if you haven't worked with them before - to change colors you rub the end against sand paper - it  works like a pencil sharpener - removing the colored edges and forming a new tip.
I stamped a background of sea horses for a background on the top half of the card,  and spritzed it with some gold shimmer to add some sparkle.  The chalk I applied in two colors, laying a base for the item with the lighter color, and adding detail and highlight with the slightly darker shade .

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Love the soft colors of the Pebbles chalk on your Shell Wreath image. Your details on this are outstanding! Wonderful teal stitched burlap, lace, cane back chair embossing...and the very clever tone on tone stamped Seahorse image in the background!
