Mermaid Kisses

Hi friends!  I hope you're doing good today!   I'm doing ok!   I did a little running around this morning looking for a watercolor block.. you know ... watercolor paper that is adhered on all four sides so you dont have to tape it to a board?  I couldn't find any at Michaels, Joanns or Hobby Lobby.  I guess I'll have to let my fingers do the walking.

Still a little time to spare to make something today before I get started on dinner.  You know I love a sketch challenge and I found this one CAS Colours & Sketches.  This sketch looked like fun so I got to work!
I cut my panel in half like the sketch and made the bottom half surf using the Reverse Confetti Scallop Cover Panel, and the top half sun using the Reverse Confetti Sunburst Cover Panel.

I like to add details to designs to make them come to life.  I added more die cut circles to the center of the die cut panel to create a sun.  I also added gems to the seashell and the flower in the mermaid's hair.

I cut a few extra waves from gold glitter paper to add some sparkle from the sunshine on the water.

I didn't notice it before but the mermaid is the same colors as the background! LOL!

Memorial Day is just around the corner.. that means summer is officially here in the Chicago area!  It's time to start planning a trip to the beach!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps - You Are Terrific!

I hope you're having a great day!  I'm enjoying the sunshine and spending a little time outside every day.  I like to sit outside with a book and a glass of cold ice tea.  When I hear a bird chirp close by I can't resist seeing what kind it is.  The Baltimore Orioles are back and I've spotted some Fly Catchers too!

I love crafting with flowers - they always make me happy!  These are called Pretty Posies from CAS-ual Fridays!  I love their hand drawn doodle look.
Of course there's a matching set of Fri-Dies that make them easy to cut out.  I stamped these with Memento Tuxedo Black, and colored them with Copic Markers.
I stamped a simple background of yellow lines from Zigs and Zags. It adds just enough color to break up all that clean white space and "ground" the flowers, so they don't look like they're floating.

To add more dimension I adhered some of the elements flat on the card base while others are popped up with adhesive foam tape.

Been itching for some new goods and want to go shopping?

I hope you'll use my discount code to SAVE 15% on your purchase! Tupelo Designs LLC - Go With The Flow

Happy Friday!  I hope you're having a great day and counting down the hours to the weekend!  My weekend starts early today!  Mr. J has the day off so I'm hoping we can do something together just the two of us.   Last week we went to lunch and a movie - we saw Guardians of the Galaxy. The sound track was a flash back to our '70's childhoods and gosh!  was Groot ever adorable!
I'm starting to day dream about vacations to tropical places.. maybe a sandy beach?  I Richard is reading this .. I blame you!
I started with a background of Distress Ink.  I put some Mustard Seed spots in the middle of the paper, and then added Mermaid Lagoon around the edges.  Where they meet it turns a pretty shade of green.  Next I splattered the paper with water.  When that was dry I splattered some white ink.   This is the same way I make a space background - I just use different colors of ink.

I decided to make a shaker card creating a frame with the My Favorite Things  Stitched Oval Frames.  The clear sequins look like sunlight reflecting under water.
I stamped all the Altenew Painted Jellyfish with Altenew ink.  The ink is specifically designed to be layered and they have several shades of each color making it easy to select the right ink to stamp each layer with.   A tip if this set is new for you.... make sure you align the second layer stamp with the die cut.  I missed that on my first go round and had to stamp them all again.  The die is detailed and longest part of the image (the lightest color) needs to be stamped in just the right place.
The stamp set even has a few sentiments like this fun "go with the flow".  I'm certain I don't want to meet up with a jellyfish any time soon, but they really are beautiful floating on my card aren't they?  LOL
Want to go shopping? I sure hope you'll give my favorite store Tupelo Designs LLC a try! They have lots of my favorite brands like Altnew, Hero Arts, Waffle Flower, Concord &9th and so many more all under one roof. They have free shipping in the USA every day - no coupon code required..
