SSCB#36 Fall - Pumpkins & Sunflowers

Thanks for stopping by! Wow is the weather changing a lot here in the Chicago area. We get a nice warm day, and then BAM we're down in the 50's. I guess that's fall for you! LOL! The leaves are starting to change and Mother Nature is putting on a heck of a show for us! A new challenge begins today at Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog and we're celebrating all things FALL! To play along just create a fall themed project that includes at least one Serendipity Stamps image (stamp or die). You might just win $20 off your next order. Everyone is always a winner though because there is a coupon code - just enter "40fromhigh1014" for a 40% discount off the highest priced item in your cart.

Mary likes to keep things interesting for the DT .  This time she asked us to add glue to create texture.   I had a hard time with this - I guess I'm not a mixed media gal.  I tried lots of different things including mixing glue with acrylic paint and squeezing it through a hole in a bag like a pastry chef adding the finishing touches to a cake, but all I came up with was a hot mess!  Honest!!

SO here's what I finally did... I taped a stencil to a sheet of colored  card stock.  Next I took a spatula and spread Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Adhesive over the stencil.  You need to work quick because they didn't name it "quick dry" for nothing!  Quickly remove the stencil and then sprinkle it with glitter.  You will want to rinse the stencil immediately under water before the glue sets up.    I tried this with both coarse and fine glitter and liked the fine best because it gives better definition to the stenciled image.
So what do you think?  Not too shabby huh?   The glue dries clear so all you see is the raised glitter.  It almost looks embossed.  Want to see what the rest of the ladies did with this fall challenge?  Look for the adhesive texture on their projects.  Oh yes.. . and we have a very special guestie this month!     Julia Stainton!!
