Poppystamps Challenge - Wonderful Washi

Do you love washi? If the answer is a great big YES! I sure hope you'll join us this month at Poppystamps for our challenge!

Washi is a printed decorative masking tape that comes in lots of different sizes! It's a great way to add a little strip of printed color or pattern just about anywhere on your design.

I made two simple cards using 4.5" washi tape from Memory Box. This woodland print is called Watercolor Forest Greenery. The wide width of the tape makes it easy to apply to an entire card base to create a background with a pattern paper look. The washi has a bit of a shine to it making it look more expensive like a specialty paper.

Like any other pretty background it seemed wrong to cover it up too much so I added a simple Merry Christmas Flourish over the top. I die cut the word die twice - once in gold foil and once in Red cardstock. I stacked the die cuts at a slight offset to allow the gold foil to shine through.

A sprinkle of gold enamel dots is the finishing touch!

My second card was made using the Memory Box Rose Bouquet washi. I started the same as the first card.. with a background of washi tape and a double cut sentiment. This time I used the Luscious Script Hello.

This time I made a second panel of washi covered cardstock and fussy cut some of the pretty print from the paper using scissors.

I attached the fussy cut pieces with adhesive foam tape so they are slightly raised. This adds a little interest to the card and helps define the fussy cut portion. I used colored cardstock matts to add a little more color to the cards too, but still they were both very simple to create.
