Simple Stories Simple Vintage Essentials Revisited

Hi Friends! I hope you’re having a great day! Today I’m sharing five more cards made with the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Essentials. This collection was so nice I had to play twice! But this go round I challenged myself to use some of the collection pieces that I don’t normally gravitate to for cardmaking.
All of the papers I used this time are from the 12” designer paper kit. I cut the papers to 6x6x” squares to make them more manageable. I flip half of the double-sided papers back side up so I can see all of the lovely pattern choices I have available to work with in the pack.
I typically use the same recipe for my card makes. I start with a card base topped with Color Vibe solid mats for a foundation. Next, I layer on pattern papers mixing the fun prints. Finally, I like to create a focal point. Usually that means a 4x4 SN@P! card or a Journaling die cut. This time I used Ephemera and Chipboard Clipboards to create focal points for my designs.
Because the Chipboard Clipboards are blank, they’re great for altering. I thought this would be the perfect place to try out the rub ons! I found them easy to apply using wood stick included in the package and they do add a new layer of interest to the designs.

Chipboard Metal Hardware accents and Foam Sticker titles along with enamel dots make the perfect finishing touches.
I challenge you to explore your traditional cardmaking supplies and see how you can kick things up a notch! I think you’ll be glad you did.

Whittle Witch Halloween

Do you love die cuts? I hope you've checked out Poppystamps! They're from the maker of Memory Box and Birch Press Design!

They also have a monthly challenge that you can play along with by linking to your blog, Instagram or on line gallery. There's a $20 gift card awarded to a random player every month! I love that I get to see what other people are playing with or what holiday is on their mind.
This month the challenge is "clean and simple" and I've got Halloween on my mind so I merged the two together into this cute and spooky card.
I started by arranging the different elements on a piece of clear plastic the size of my card base. This helps me figure out what to put where and also to figure out the background for my design. I can easily pick up the entire arrangement and layer it over different colors until I find just the right one!
I started with the Whittle Tree Border cut in black with circle die cut foliage in green, and shades of purple.
I added some spooky ghosts and a little witch to create a scene. Lots of gems from Memory Box add bubbles to a cauldron and a bit of sparkle to the trees.
Halloween needs a touch of magic doesn't it? I added stripes to the witch leggings and blush to her cheeks with a marker.
I hope you find some time to play along! I'd sure love to see what you're up to. You can always find the latest challenge by clicking on the badge in the top right corner of the Poppystamps blog here.

My Creative Scrapbook August Main Kit

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you're having a great day! If you're looking for a great way to treat yourself I hope you consider trying a subscription to one of the My Creative Scrapbook monthly kits. They select the pattern paper and lots of coordinating supplies and deliver it straight to your front door so all you have to focus on is MAKING! Every month they have several kits to choose from.. their Main Kit, LE - Limited Edition, Creative Kit and Album Kit - so you can choose what's right for you!

This time I'm working with the August Main Kit. This kit includes die cuts, chipboard stickers, stencil and premium 12" papers from the Simple Stories The Little Things Collection. There are also some papers and frames and die cut pieces from the Echo Park Day In The Life No. 2 Collection. This kit also includes a stamp set so you can personalize your projects.
I love the color scheme of this kit - primary shades of red, yellow and blue are absolutely gorgeous. The prints include florals, plaids, dots, and lots more. There is even a sheet of tags for other projects.
I'm primarily a card maker so the first thing I do is cut the papers down to 6" squares. I flip half of them face up, and the other half face down so I can see the prints on BOTH sides. This gives me lots of choices for mixing and matching prints.
The 12" sheet of journaling elements and 3x4" SN@P! cards make perfect focal points for the designs. Lots of them have colorful solid frames that help break up the prints on the papers.
All of the sentiments in the collection are positive and inspirational to celebrate today and make the most of the NOW. They make me want to find the beauty in the ordinary of every day.
I love the images that have a "homespun" feel, especially the fruits, jams and kettles that remind me of time spent around the kitchen table. I used the checkered and plaid prints to make table cloths to set the table scene.
These cards were made with everything that you see in the kit photo. The only things I've added are the card bases, solid cardstock (for background mats), enamel dots, adhesives and envelopes.
I invite you to join one of their monthly kit clubs and experience the possibilities that their coordinated kits offer. With plenty of innovative materials and ideas to jump start your imagination, preserving your memories and making cards will be effortless and enjoyable.
