Thankful You Are My Grandma

Do you love die cuts? They're my favorite crafty supply! Today I'm playing along at Cut it Up Challenge where they're celebrating Grandparents Day!

Some of my favorite memories of my grandparents is sitting in their great big rocker and looking through their books with drawings and photos of birds and different animals. I give them all the credit for my love of nature.

My card features lots of dies from Waffle Flower.. Classic Books that you can customize in lots of different ways or even add a sentiment to.

The Teacup die comes with the floral as a separate die as well as the bitty tea tag. To draw your attention to the teacup I added some colorful Nesting Stitched Circles.

That pretty frame is a three piece set called Fancy Frame. I love the cut as well as the stitched detail on the design.

I love how this one turned out and I hope you do too! Every day is a perfect day to celebrate the special people in your life!

Pink Paislee 5th & Monaco - Grateful For You

Playing with one of my favorite collections today.. Pink Paislee's 5th & Monaco. I love the bright colors, pretty flowers and tropical elements.

Papers are fun to mix and match.. my tip for the beginner is to mix lights and darks for contrast and to help define different prints.

Shine On!

Sending you smiles today with my rendition of the solar system! I had lots of fun getting inky to make this far out design.

The background is much easier than it looks - just simple Distress Ink blending, starting with spots of yellow, and then adding blue and purple. I think the splatter really gives the effect of outer space.. a simple splatter of water and some watered down white ink (I use Dr. Ph Martins bleed-proof white that you can find at Hobby Lobby). So even if you don't like your inking.. go ahead splatter it.. what have you got to loose? You'll be surprised at how cool it looks when your done.

Saturn is a simple circle die from the Waffle Flower Solar System die set. I inked the circle in pink and then dragged an orange and red ink pad across the pink circle to get the stripes.

Solar System Sentiments have lots of fun sentiments that are punny and perfect to use with this set. There's lots of possiblities too.. how about making that circle a shaker? Waffle Flower has two shaker covers that are sized to fit this - the bubble and the flat style.

Little eyes and smile are totally optional. I like them because they make me smile back!
