Fusion Card Challenge - Pinwheels

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great day! A new challenge begins today at Fusion Card Challenge! It's a great place to play and you'll love this challenge because there are three ways to play.. you can play along with the sketch, be inspired by the photo, or FUSE them together and play with BOTH!

I'm typically drawn to the inspiration photo.. the inspiration photo this time is called Pinwheels. I spy gold, grey and navy pinwheels that reminded me of foldable fans.. If you're not loving the photo, don't forget.. there are other ways to play along!

I couldn't get foldable fans out of my head so I took it that direction... I cut the Tutti Designs Fan Background die twice. My cut machine is getting older so the technique was easy.. one die cut all the way through and one still together in one piece. If you have a newer machine you can keep all the pieces together by adding packing tape to the back of your cardstock before you cut your die.

I colored the panel that is held together with Copic markers in shades of blue, yellow and grey. You don't have to be too careful coloring because you're going to cover your work with the clean cut die. I wanted lots of sparkle so I spread some Glitz glitter gel over the colored panel before I added the clean cut die.

A sparkly Big Hello Sugar Script is cut from navy glitter paper and a hot foil "sending hugs" sentiment from Poppystamps Modest Greetings is added just underneath.

Pink Paislee 5th & Monico - Hello

Playing with one of my favorite collections today.. Pink Paislee's 5th & Monaco. I love the bright colors, pretty flowers and tropical elements.

Papers are fun to mix and match.. my tip for the beginner is to mix lights and darks for contrast and to help define different prints.

Simple Stories Simple Vintage Halloween

Halloween has to be my favorite holiday! When I was little it was the only night of the year that we were allowed to roam the neighborhood in the dark. I loved choosing my costume and going door to door collecting treats! Talk about a kids dream! Now that I still get to stay up late, but now you’ll find me sitting on the porch handing out treats and trying to guess who is behind the masks and costumes.

The new Simple Stories Simple Vintage Halloween captures all the magic of a crisp Halloween night. You’ll love the fun mix of vintage images including black cats, carved jack-o-lanterns and some of the cutest witches ever!

The color scheme is traditional orange and black with fun prints including plaid, dots, and newsprint; as well as stars, stripes and even spiderwebs!

This collection includes all the extras too.. pattern paper, solid basics papers, chipboard, die cuts, stickers, enamel dots, washi, decorative brads and more.

I’m always impressed with the details Simple Stories adds to all their collections. Did you notice the pumpkin print on the girl’s skirt above? How about the faux stitching on the header?

I always start with pattern paper and top it with cut apart journaling cards and elements to build layers. Adding sentiments and images over the foundations builds the layers and creates focal points for your cards.

I always save the “sprinkles” for last. Shiny enamel dots, and decorative brads are the eye candy that make you come in for a closer look so you can feast on all the crafty goodness!

I can’t wait to send these cards to family and friends! I know they’re going to love them!
