Paper Sweeties June Release - Day One - Wedding Day

I'm so excited to share with you the latest releases from Paper Sweeties.  The sneak peaks of the new stamps has been bumped up this month to give you more time to play.  There are 5 new sets this month and they are wedding, anniversary and love themed.  Today I am giving you a peek at the "Wedding Day" set that features a couple in silhouette - the bride wearing a classic princess dress.  It's a beautiful romantic set that is totally swoon worthy.

I stamped the couple in black Versafine ink to get  rich full coverage with great detail on cream card stock.  They have been fussy cut and layered on some beautiful die cuts and embossed background.  For embellishments I added a cream taffeta ribbon topped with a pearl and gem center that I found in the floral department and a few mulberry roses.

Such a romantic card!  I hope you like it!  Hop on over to the rest of the design team blogs to see what they made and get more peeks at the new releases that hit the Paper Sweeties store on June 4.

See you tomorrow for more new Paper Sweeties releases!

Ribbon Card Tutorial

Hi Friends!  I just wanted to share with you a card I made today and give you some step by step directions on how to make one of your own!  This is a great way to use some of your favorite ribbons that  you may have stashed away for the perfect project.  It really makes them the center of attention and is lots of fun.
Heres a list of everything you will need:  Your favorite ribbon (mine is May Arts), a die cut, some card stock, a ruler, tape, double sided tape, a sentiment stamp, and ink.  Since summer always reminds me of parades and patriotic things I thought  I'd use a star die cut.

First create a card from cardstock.  You can use the size of the die to help you determine the size of your card like I did, or you can select a die that will fit on the size card you wish to make. My finished card for this project is 5.75 x 5.75".

Cut a smaller panel in a colored card stock that will compliment the ribbon color you are using.  Mine is red to keep with my patriotic theme.

Cut a second panel slightly smaller than the colored card stock frame.  Center your die using a ruler and attach tape to the inside of the die to hold it in place to run it through your die cut machine.
After you run it through your die cut machine you will have a frame that looks like this.

Stamp your sentiment on the frame - I used a stamp a ma jig to help me line it up perfectly and give me an idea of where I should place the image before I stamped my frame.
Cut a smaller panel of card stock that will fit behind your frame that will remain unseen.  Attach double sided tape to each of the four sides of this panel and arrange your ribbon in an eye pleasing pattern.  You can arrange them however you like.  I thought a diagonal would be interesting.
Once you have the area that the die cut frame exposes covered trim the edges of the ribbon so they don't overlap your card stock panel.  Don't worry if the edges are frayed - this won't show on your finished project.
Lastly adhere the frame to the ribbon panel with double sided tape and attach to your card.
Here is my finished card.
I've made a few of these cards in the past , I thought I would post them here again so you can see some different variations on the same theme.  I used a flower shaped die for this one and stamped the sentiment on  a ribbon banner and the ribbon was woven.
This one was made using a butterfly die and all sorts of different pretty ribbons - what a great way to use up little scraps that you can't bare to part with!
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will give this technique a try!

Paper Sweeties Sketch Challenge #8 Happy Birthday!

If you love the Paper Sweeties this is the week for you!  We are starting off the month with the latest sketch challenge - and your chance to win a few sets of Paper Sweeties to add to your collection!  Once  a month there is a new sketch to play with.  Just link up your designs at the Paper Sweeties Blog!  It's a great way to see other creative ways to use your stamps - or maybe fall in love with a few new favorites.

I thought this sketch was lots of fun because of the stripes across the bottom.  I really enjoyed mixing and matching different patterns and papers - and it is a great way to use up some leftover scraps as well!  I'm feeling light and summery lately - so you can expect more bright colors and flowers!  To dress up the bottom half of the card I added some swirls of gems, a bow and a pre made crochet flower. Here's what I came up with.....

Would you like to see what the rest of the design team made for this challenge?  Check out their blogs!  Just click on their names!

Ahhh... .but there is more... we will be previewing the June release early this month (June 2-5) so that you have more time to use them for June themed projects.  I know .... what are they right?  Can't tell ya!  You will have to come back tomorrow and I promise to dish all about them!!
