Hugs for Today

Today I'm playing along with the Triple B Challenge where its Birds, Butterflies or Blooms. You don't have to do all three. I'm missing the birds, but that's ok.

My card today is made with the Butterfly Blossom Texture die from Waffle Flower. You just cut the die and then color it with the coordinating stencil set.

The layered stencil adds dimension to the design when you add darker layers.

I adhered the big die cut to a white card panel and then just added a stamped, die cut sentiment from the Paper Hugs set. I used adhesive foam tape to add a little dimension. The finishing touch was a few candy dot enamels.

Spring Wreath Wedding Congrats!

Hi friends! I hope you’re having a beautiful day! Today I’m sharing a card made with the beautiful new Leafy Spring Wreath! This set features a leafy wreath with lots of pretty embellishments including flowers, Easter eggs, little birds and a beautiful bow!

I like to reimagine my stamps and dies and imagine different ways to use them. Just because this set has “Spring” in it’s name doesn’t mean that’s the only time I can use it. I saw those little birds and immediately my mind went to weddings!

Pretty Pink Posh has a fabulous assortment of stitched border dies too. But why do they have to be just for borders? I like to use the Stacked Edges and Stitched Strips dies to create smooth flat backgrounds. I have more than one of each of the border die sets so I can cut several at a time. I always save the extras for other projects.

I love the clean line designs from Pretty Pink Posh because they’re ideal for every media type I can think of. I’m not an “expert” at coloring so I like to color the petals and leaves in different shades of color to give a stained glass look with lots of contrast.

I’m smiling because this card was made with something old (the older release dies), something new (the new Leafy Spring Wreath), something borrowed (my daughter’s markers), and something blue (all those fabulous stripes)! I'm playing at Shopping Our Stash where this time they want you to color something with your favorite media - mine is Copic Markers!

I know... they're expensive. But if you color as much as I do you can't beat the value of being able to buy ink refills. One refill will recharge your marker at least 10 times. The color match is perfect and I only have to buy refills of the colors I need.

Floral Corner Congratulations

I hope your weekend is off to a good start. If the weather cooperates I think I'll have all the seedlings and seeds planted in the garden! Then it's time for mulching and watering!

Today I'm playing along at Hand Stamped Sentiments where they're featuring a color challenge! I sort of had to laugh because the only part of my card that's stamped IS THE SENTIMENT - I hope that still counts!

My congratulations card starts with a panel of die cut Stitched Strips. You can adhere them directly to your card front using doubled sided tape. Next I topped the panel with two Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Frames.

I colored the die cut Floral Arch with Copic Markers, but any markers or other media will do. I simply attached packing tape to the back of my paper before I cut the die - this kept all the pieces in place. I colored the images (nope you don't have to stay in the lines) and then topped the colored panel with a clean white die cut Floral Arch.

The florals and sentiment are adhered with adhesive foam tape so they pop up a bit adding dimension. I finished off with a sprinkle of Caribbean Blue Jewels for some sparkle.

I love non traditional colors for events because they're the sort of cards I have to look at twice.. they don't blend in with the rest. I think this one is knock out! I hope you like it too!

Pretty Pink Posh May Release Blog Hop

Flowers are always my favorite subject - I love that they look amazing in any color and are easy to arrange.

My card starts with a striped stencil background. If you look close I masked off a small stripe along the bottom of the panel. I topped the panel with some stitched border dies... the Stitched Borders Three solid stripe with blue scallop stitched edges.

A Decorative Tag One is layered over the border and adorned with beautiful die cut florals. I cut LOADS of these florals in several different colors. Once that work was completed it made it easy to make make make! I could play with these all day!

A scatter of Blue Sky Pearls adds a little shine and this card is total eye candy!

If die cut flowers aren't your thing.. how about some stamped florals? These are colored with Copic Markers.. again I stamped several sheets and colored them in lots of different shades so I have more to play with for today and for other projects.

I cut a white cardstock panel with the Scallop Borders Die to create a wave in the center of the panel. Next I adhered the panel to a Distress Ink background so the color peeks through.
