SSCB#23 Use Up Those Scraps!!

Got scraps?  I think we all do!  Little bits of pattern paper and fancy ribbon that we just can't seem to part with.  Twice a month Serendipity Stamps sponsors a challenge blog where you post projects featuring your favorite Serendipity Stamps.  The challenge this time is to create a project using some of those scraps!  You could win $20 off your next order by linking up your creation here.   Everyone is a winner though because the sale this time is free shipping on all orders $10 and over within the continental US - sale ends on 11-13!

Sometimes I buy the big 12x12 sheets of patterned paper, but lately I've been drawn to the 6x6" size.  They are easier to store and flip through.  I find myself reaching for the bigger ones less and less so I've been cutting the big sheets into 6x6 squares to keep them handy.  Either way I'm left with all sorts of scraps.  I've been trying to convince myself that anything smaller than 3 x 6 should make it into the recycle bag, but of course that never happens.  I made this Thanksgiving card with the 1" left over strips - all from the same pad - my 6x6" Authentique "Thankful" collection.
Want more ideas for finishing up those scrappy bits?  Check out projects from the rest of the design team.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Happy Birthday Tracey!

Happy Birthday Tracey!  In typical me fashion I am late to the party!!  I hope you will let me stretch it out a day longer - actually I wish you a whole month full of Happy Birthday Wishes.    Joyce from Cards by the Sea blog organized a special birthday celebration for Tracey McNeely from In My Creative Opinion Blog..    Tracey's got loads of friends so instead of doing a blog hop there is a linky gadget at Joyce's blog.  No worries if you are late like me. You have a few more days to link up your beautiful birthday cards to wish Tracey a Happy Day!
I met Tracey through the 12 Kits of Holidays group we were in together.  She is our super sweet North of the Border Canadian girlfriend!  She has a clean and simple style that I'm totally envious of.  I tried to channel her by making this CAS card.  I hope you know this is just for you Tracey.  Best wishes and please forgive me for showing up late!!!  I still can't believe no one sent me a note yet to smack me upside the head!! I guess that's a good thing : )

Big Hugs!!

Peaceful Bird Silhouette

Thanks for stopping by!   It's my turn posting on the Poppystamps blog today.  The design team takes turns posting so there are new ideas and projects featured there every single day!   My project today is a clean and simple card loaded with lots of extras including a die cut window, dry embossing and a color blended background.   You could make a bunch of these in no time and it's still flat enough to get by without any extra postage!

I made a card from card stock and then trimmed a slightly smaller panel.   I stamped a sentiment on the smaller panel, die cut a circle "window" for my scene and then embossed the panel with a wood grain pattern.  I took a small piece of card stock that would fit behind the window and inked it up with pink and purple distress ink blending them in the center.  I adhered this blended panel to the card base and then attached the embossed panel with adhesive foam tape so that it stands up a bit from the base.  Last I inserted the die cut peaceful bird and small pine branch.
I hope you like it and give this a try!  Have a great day!
