Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #66 9-24-11

WMS-66Hi and thanks for stopping by to visit my blog!  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  My son had a cross country meet and a surprise party to attend, but the rest of us spent most of our time in the yard trying to get everything ready for winter.  We started taking out the garden, closing up the pool, and cutting back the flowering plants.   We are raking leaves already if you can believe that!  Our days are getting  shorter - it's dark in   the  morning at 6 a.m. and it's getting chilly at night.

I'm having a root canal tomorrow so I am spending my day making sure everyone has everything they need tomorrow - clean clothes and a dinner I can just pop in the oven - in case I don't feel so good.
I made this celebrate card for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #66.  We have some friends that just announced they are expecting a baby.   They have been trying for a while, and experienced a loss earlier, so when I heard the news I was overjoyed!   I wanted the card to express my happiness!   I think that came through with the banner and all the colors.

I wanted to give you an idea of how I made the flower since I don't think you can see it well on the photo.  I used the new Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One Die and cut it out twice.  I then stamped it with the Waltzingmouse Picnic Patterns stamp - and then inked the edges.  I got the center rolled nice and tight by using this quilling tool I picked up at Hobby Lobby for around $4.  Here's a photo so you can see the pattern better.
I stamped this same background behind the 'Celebrate" sentiment to repeat the pattern.  I used the stamp with the word "baby" from the Join Us set - I simply put tape over the area of the stamp I didn't want to use, inked it up, removed the tape and then stamped.  Making the flower was a little tricky at first - but with a little practice I think it came out great.  I hope you will give it a try.

I just posted my card, so now I can look at yours! It is so pretty and it really does seem like a celebration. Those banners are so cute and the patterned paper goes so well with them. The little clothespin is such a great detail. I love that you included the pic of the flower and the stamping, I would love to see this in person, another great one Jeanne.

Oh so pretty Jeanne! Love the sweet little WM pennant banner and color palette! Your rolled flower looks fab! I found that flower very frustrating to make as it kept coming out wonky shaped :( Yours looks fab! Thanks for playing along with the WMSC :)
