Simple Stories Make It Merry Collection

The holiday season is quickly sneaking up on us! Are you ready? Every year I look forward to the holiday collections released from Simple Stories and I am never disappointed. This year is no exception with several collections to choose from. Today I’m sharing EIGHT cards made with the Make It Merry Collection.

This collection has EVERYTHING – chipboard, bits and pieces, stickers, brads, enamel dots, washi and lots more! My cards are made with the 12” collection kit, but there’s also a 6x8” pad available.

I really love the Journal Elements page you’ll find in the 12” collection. It’s a mix of different size journaling cards perfect for creating focal points for our cards. Because most of them have solid white spaces the break up the pattern papers beautifully so the images don’t have to compete.

I’m loving all the birds in this collection too! I have lots of feeders in my yard and it’s always a treat to see bright red Cardinals and Blue Jays – and I’m delighted to see them on paper too!

Of course you’ll find lots of traditional images too – like Santa, Poinsettias, Christmas Trees and all things merry and bright.

I always start by breaking down the 12” papers into 6” squares. I face two sides up and two sides with their reverse pattern showing. This allows me to see all the paper prints available to work with.

I arrange my images on a piece of clear plastic the size of my card face. This lets me arrange things until I’m satisfied before I commit and adhere them in place. The clear plastic allows me to slide different patterns underneath to help me decide which ones I like best.

Everything comes together quickly because it’s designed to work together. The pieces are already cut apart and there’s lots to choose from. The Decorative Brads, Washi and Enamel Dots are the finishing touches like the sprinkles on top of your cookie masterpieces!
