My Creative Scrapbook July Creative Kit & Card Making Tips

Did you ever wish you had a personal shopper for your craft supplies? Now more than ever I appreciate that My Creative Scrapbook puts together a kit perfect for cardmaking or journaling. This kit is bright and cheery with Photoplay We Can Just Stay Home Collection papers, colorful Pebbles Buttons, a pretty roll of American Crafts grosgrain ribbon with a diamond print, a stencil and an alphabet sticker set too!

The papers celebrate family fun night - think movies, board games, and staying in your p.j.'s all DAY long! This kit is perfect for now since we're all spending more time at home and enjoying our time together.

Today I'm sharing some tips about how I like to make. The first thing I do is cut the 12" papers down into 6x6 squares. This makes them easier for me to work with and see all the patterns. 

If there is a sticker sheet I remove them and apply baby powder to their reverse side. The adhesive back sticks to the powder making them easy for me to arrange without them sticking to each other or anything else. 

I arrange the different elements on pieces of clear plastic the same size as my card face. I can arrange the pieces and experiment with different pattern paper backgrounds before adhering them in place.

Too much busy pattern going on? Break up your papers with mostly solids, and busy prints. This makes it easier for your eye to see the different papers and keeps your images from fighting for attention. 

Add some adhesive foam tape to the back of your elements. The extra dimension helps the images pop and gives your cards an expensive feel and look. You can make your own foam tape by applying double sided adhesive sheets to craft foam sheets.

It's Ice Cream Time!

Ohhh Yessss! It's totally ice cream time! The sun shining and the hot humid weather demand a sweet summer treat! Today I'm playing with the Pretty Little Studio Chasing the Sun Collection.

My card starts with a background of beachy stripes that make me think of beach towels in shades of lime, pink and teal. The panel is topped with a Sunkissed 3x4" Journaling card with the ice cream sentiment printed on it. 

Die cut frozen treats and sherbet colored hearts are scattered about (it's all about the love right?) along with some sequins for a little eye candy.

Keep cool and enjoy the sunny days!

My card features the new Viola Plate Layer Set over a rainbow distress ink background. I used only the A Layer from the set because I wanted to show you the intricate and delicate design.

I inked the rainbow colors with a cosmetic brush. You can find different sizes at Amazon. The smaller brushes make coloring thinner areas easier.

Do you see the glittery sparkle in the distress inking? I mixed ultra fine glitter with Ranger Glossy Accents and spread it with a spatula over the inked background. While it was still wet I placed the Viola die cut over it. When it was dry I added a Pierced Rectangle Frame for a more finished look and a JUMBO Lingo Hugs die cut.

Rainbow Roundabout Hugs

Hi Friends! I hope you're having a great day! Now that many of us are having elective medical procedures again, I thought a get well card was in order.

I'm sending big hugs and a rainbow of colors for a quick recovery.

I cut the Roundabout Layer C from white card stock leaving the cut outs in place. If you put packing tape on the back of your card stock before you run it through your machine it will keep all the pieces in place. I colored the chevrons with Copic Markers - much faster than inlaying the pieces!

I cut the Layer B from gold glitter card stock - did you know Memory Box has added papers to their offerings? The glitter paper comes in a 6" pad and lots of colors! 

If you love the Lingo Hugs die you'll NEED the JUMBO Lingo Hugs die! It's a nice big size to make your message is clear!
