Catch A Wave

Summer is over but when you're a crafter it can be any time of year that you want it to be. We're having a few warm days of Summer's last Hurrah. When I let the dog out last night the air was very warm and still. It had me thinking of nights on vacation when we'd slip off to the pool after it was closed. So today I'm sharing a sweet escape to the seaside.

This card was made with the Pretty Little Studio Hey Summer Collection! The background is a split pattern paper background that I topped with a striped Summer Selfie frame with a third pattern paper insert.

The frame makes a great focal point for my beach scene. I started with the umbrella and then started tucking in coral, shells and starfish.

Some of the images are from sticker sheets. I powder their sticky backs to use them more like die cuts. It allows me to move them around without adhering them in place until I'm ready to do so.

Here Comes Santa Paws!

Today I'm playing along with Cards 4 Galz where this time they're looking for cards with Dogs or Puppies. I thought I'd play along with this cute Be A Dog die cut from Waffle Flower Crafts!

Waffle Flower has several different "Be A" series critters to choose from including a Unicorn, Reindeer, Cat, Panda, and this dog.

They have a coordinating die set called "Be Christmas" that includes lots of accessories to dress up your critters for the holidays. The critters are not new, but the Christmas accessories and sentiment stamp set are.

I gave my puppy silly eyes that move when you shake the card. I almost added a pom pom for the hat, but thought it might be best to keep this as flat as possible for mailing.

Those green frames in the background are from the Pinking Rectangles set. I only cut two of the 3 in the set and just stacked them to add some dimension and interest to the design.

I think this one will be great to send to the vet or our girls' caretaker.

Autumn Thank You

Have you taken a look outside lately? The leaves are in full bloom! I mean.. WOW! Gorgeous! I wish I could capture that stunning color on paper! I know nothing beats Mother Nature, but I sure tried on my pretty leaves today!

I'm linking up at My Time To Craft Challenge where they're looking for some pretty Autumn Leaves!

My card started with the Waffle Flower Woodgrain that I cut from light and dark brown cardstock. I really love this slab of wood looking die! It's the perfect focal point for the Print Thank You Sentiment and some Fall Leaves.

It's easy to get lots of depth color blending ink with the coordinating stencil and mini brushes.  If you haven't tried the new Grip Mats you're really missing out.  The sheets come in different sizes. They're made of gel and hold your paper in place while your inking so you can be hands free.  And the biggest plus is that NO RESIDUE is left behind on your paper. 

To add a little more interest I added a Dotted Chevron background to the design.  A sprinkle of enamel dots adds more color and a little shine like berries you might find in nature.

Hey! Thank You!

Hey! How are you today? It's Friday! It's been another busy week! I'm stripping wallpaper from the bathroom, trying to get my on line galleries up to date, and helping out my Mom whenever I can. I'm glad it's Friday so I get some time with Mr. J!

Today I'm playing along at Cut It Up Challenge where this time you're to add a sentiment. And of course you need to include some die cuts! That's no problem for me since die cuts are my FAVORITE!

This card starts with a Sunburst die cut from white cardstock layered over a pink panel. I topped that with a Butterfly Circle cut from the same pink cardstock.

A great big Oversized Hey Hi Hello die cut takes center stage in the center of the Sunburst. I die cut a few gold foil butterflies with some scrap paper, and scattered them like confetti on the design.

I added a label maker "thank you" stamp from the Labelmaker Sentiments stamp set. It's got loads of sentiments for just about every occasion.

How sweet it is! I hope you're having a great day! My card today features the Pretty Pink Posh Watermelon stamp and coordinating die set!

I like to arrange my images on a piece of clear plastic the size of my card face to help me decide on placement before I commit and adhere everything in place. It's also easy to pick up the entire design and layer it over different backgrounds to choose which one I like best.

I stamped the sentiment in the center of a Scalloped Oval Frame and then arranged the watermelon, slices and leaves around the frame.

I decided on a stitched zig zag border in watermelon shades of ombre red and green. I love the Stacked Edges series of dies because they make quick detailed backgrounds in a snap. The die cut borders fit together like puzzle pieces so the finished background is smooth and flat.

The finishing touch is a sprinkle of Lime Shimmer Confetti. They shine like juicy dewdrops!  I'm linking up to Sunday Stamps where they have a sketch challenge this time!
