It's the last day of the month! Time for the 12 Kits of Occasions! The 12 Kits is a group of friends who all love to paper craft. Every month one of us takes a turn at supplying a kit to the rest of the group. The hostess this month is Joyce from Cards By The Sea! Joyce is a California girl where it's always summer and the living is easy! LOL! She likes things Clean and Simple and knows how to embrace the open spaces! She put together this beautiful kit for us with pretty papers, stamped and die cut images, twine sequins and gems! Our theme this month is "Happy Birthday"!
I've said it before and I'll say it again.. the only thing better than this group of ladies (you are my support, my sanity and my dear friends) is all the new products I get to try every month. We each have our own style, favorite brands and images - we run from cute to elegant, clean to fussy and every month it amazes me how we approach the same products with different eyes.
I always tell you to look out for a trixie element in the kit left in my stash of things that I didn't use - this time the only thing I didn't seem to use in the kit was the framed die cut sentiments. I think they'd be great for shakers, but I'll be on the lookout for different ways to use them.
I made lots of things so hold on to your hats!
I added some watercolor to this sentiment to look like the light around the candle!
I was a little worried about coloring these cupcakes - the stamped image is very detailed and I didn't want to color outside the lines so I shaded them very lightly with Copic Markers
I colored the Happy Birthday die cut black with a Sharpie - it was originally cut from polka dot paper.. funny how it's still on a dotted background!
I layered this die cut on a watercolor panel so all the prtty colors show through.
Here's one of the framed sentiments that I did use! Must have been because it was cut from Pink paper!

What an amazing assortment of cards here, Jeanne! How could they not be amazing with such a fun filled kit? I love the soft colored cupcakes on the black and white text background. I also love your idea of using the circular sentiment as the halo for the candle card. Genius! Love them all!!
Loving your colorful array of birthday cards Jeanne! Especially the one with the single candle and the swirled sentiment...think I'm going to have to CASE that card if you don't mind? Always love coming by to see what you ladies create from the same supplies, and am ALWAYS amazed at how different they all turn out...fun, fun, fun!! :0)
What a gorgeous array of birthday cards, WOW!!!
Oh, these were SO much fun to scroll through--each better than the one before! I LURVE the sentiment being used as a candle glow! Hot-cha-cha, Jeanne!!
Look at you go!!! Such fun cards and great designs!
Amazing selection of gorgeous cards Jeanne, wish I could borrow your mind for a few hours, love how you arrange colours and images onto a card design, always look perfect!
Hugs Pam x
Lovely cards, Jeanne. Using that spiral sentiment as a backdrop for the candle is inspiring :)
Jeanne, how do you do it?!! You create the most amazing cards each and every time. Isingvthe sentiment as the glow from the candle...get out! You are a genius! The dot card, the bright colors inside the word cut-outs, the perfectly colored cupcakes....I'm seriously LOVING it all!
Wow, what an amazing post! All of these cards are so amazing and happy and bright!
They are all so marvelous, Jeanne! I knew you would work magic with all the fabulous patterned papers Joyce included. LOVE the lighted candle sentiment and the fantastic circle design on your last card! That would be such a fun card to mass produce. Cut a big bunch of colorful circles and play!!
Oh, my. Where to start, Jeanne? I love everything. Brilliant use of the patterned papers--I knew you would show those off to amazing advantage. Love how you have a candle 'lighting' that swirled sentiment, and your coloring of those cupcakes are so brilliantly shaded. I want to dig in right now and eat. I think my very favorite is the card with the rainbow of circles. That one is so colorful and fun.
What a lovely assortment of cards you created. Fabulous layering and fun die cuts!!
Wow...so many beautiful cards Jeanne! Love them all, love all the wonderful little details you add to each one them, so creative and so you!
