Hi and thanks for stopping by! It's day 3 of hops from Memory Box and Poppystamps. We're sharing treats and tags! If you are hopping along you should have reached me from Marybeth Lopez's blog. If you'd like to start from the beginning you can get the complete list of designers and details here at the Poppy Blog or at Memory Box Outside the Box Blog. You can also get information on the previous days hops and prizes.
I really love die cuts so the hardest part about making a tag today was deciding which dies I would use. I started out die cutting a tag. Next I embossed it with the Silent Snowfall die from Memory Box. It has a beautiful snowfall pattern that mixes embossed and die cut dots. Where it cut holes I added pearls.
The Fuzzy Bunnies, "Merry" from Fancy Merry Christmas, and Snow Flocked tree are from Poppy. I did a little experimenting with the flocking on the tree. First I tried Glossy Accents with a sprinkle of glitter, but felt it was too "transparent" letting too much of the tree color show through, so I tried it again with my Perlen Pen (Ice White). It added a thick shiny layer of frosty snow - just what I was looking for. While the gel was still wet I pressed a little red bird into it.
We were asked to share a treat recipe with you - and mine is for these yummy cashew bars. They have a graham cracker crust, salty cashews, and a gooey layer of sweetened condensed milk.
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F
For Crust - Mix together and press into a 9 x 11 parchment paper lined baking pan
1 1/2 Cup Crushed Graham Crackers
1/4 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Melted Butter
Pour half of a 1/4 ounce can sweetened condensed milk over pressed crust.
Top with 1 cup white chocolate chips, 1 cup butterscotch chips
In a separate bowl mix remaining 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk with 4 cups of salted cashews. Pour into the pan and spread evenly.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Let set completely before cutting into bars.
We thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce you to Birch Press Design. This is the latest venture from Memory Box and Poppy creator Dave Brethauer. Birch Press features letterpress, laser and pressed cards as well as beautiful, quality crafted items for the home.
