My Mind's Eye Blog Challenge 27 Card - Friendship

MME_CardSketch_2011_09I just found the My Mind's Eye Blog Challenge - I have been a big fan of their paper for a LONG time so I am thrilled to see they have a blog challenge! I have been hoarding pieces from older collections - my favorite is Ooh La La for Her. If you are interested in playing along, here's the  link : http://mymindseye.typepad.com/blog/2011/09/blog-challenge-27-card.html

For this challenge I went to my next fave set - Lost and Found and mixed a bit of the old with the new - Lost and Found Two (can you say remix?).  This is Challenge 27 and instructions are:   Design a card based on this fabulous sketch and use “Friend” as your theme (sketch by Anam Stubbington).

I decided to take a risk here and instead of using just a "Friend" stamp I went with this great bird stamp from Cat's Life Press.  I thought the sentiment "Birds of a Feather" perfect for a friendship theme because as you know..... Birds of a Feather ...... that's right.......  STICK TOGETHER!!!   Just like good friends do.

I'm a  sucker for a little bling so I added little gems on the birds crown, pearls for their eyes, and for the little dots I used some plain red buttons with gems glued in the centers.  I hope you are having a great day and that you are able to set aside some time to play along for a chance to win a set of Mind's Eye Paper!

Waltzingmouse Stamps September Blog Hop - Got Treats?

Are you Waltzing?  On the 17th of every month Waltzingmouse Stamps hosts a Blog Waltz.  The theme this month is ..... you guessed it.... HALLOWEEN!  This is one of my favorite times of year here in the midwest - time to open the windows after the hot summer - and enjoy the fresh air!  A trip to the pumpkin patch and a hay ride make the season complete.  There is so much color from the leaves, mums, and colorful gourds that the change of season is welcome.
I wanted to do something extra special for the waltz so I made these two sweet treat bags!  If you want to avoid scary tricks you have to supply the treats right?  The pattern I used is a freebie design courtesy of Claire at Waltzingmouse.  You can download the digital template at http://www.waltzingmousestamps.com/products/freebie-tea-bag-baggie.  It's a great design and I've used it more than a few times now.  Give it a try - it's easy to assemble and lots of fun to decorate!
I had fun coloring this one.  I'm still building my Copic collection and since there hasn't been a workshop in my area in a while I'm still learning as I go - watching UTube video's and practicing.  The ribbon bow behind Gracie and Cicely are made of the seam binding I'm always raving about, and were made on a loom my husband made for me.  The loom is simply a series of pegs in a circle - you wrap your ribbon around the pegs and secure the bow in the middle with a brad.  I've seen similar looms at craft stores in the yarn/knitting area.

I hope you are waltzing today and that your Halloween is all treats!

CR84FN #38 - Week of September 10, 2011 - Girl's Night Out!

I love the new color inspiration from CR84FN this week!  The pink, black and gray inspired me to go feminine and modern on my card.  I have a friend who will be getting married soon and of course all the girls will be getting together to party, share stories, and shower her with some personal items for her lingerie drawer!  I thought this cute little corset stamp would be just the thing!

I had to start using some of my new Spellbinder's dies and this background label that came from the Ornate Artisan Tags & Accents Set was just the thing.  I ordered it on line and was really surprised to see how big it was when it came in the mail today.    To give you a point of reference, my card is 5" x 7".
There is plenty of blingy goodness to this card.  The zebra background paper has a pearlescent luster to it and I've added a big fat sparkler on the black shimmery bow.  There are also little gem accents on the stamps.  I hope you like this one and that you are playing along with the CR84FN challenge this week.
