Today I'm playing at We Love To Create blog challenge where Anything Goes Any Crafter World Wide. I'm playing along with a simple BetterPress Letterpress Plate design from Spellbinders called Scenic Kyoto.
This plate is available with a coloring stencil or can be used "as is" to make a clean letterpress design. If you're not familiar with letterpress its similar to foiling. You use a die cut, ink it and run it through your die cut machine. The ink is pressed into the plate for a elegant feel print. I used cotton paper with Ruby Red ink. If you run your hand across it you can feel the depression in the paper.
I chose red because when I think of Japan I think of their flag, or the red accents on a pagoda. TO make it a little more fussy I added a die cut gold Emerald Cut Label matt.
The finishing touch was a few gold enamel dots, and another matt or deep red to coordinate with the inked impression. I think CAS is best with a letterpress design because you can make a whole stack of notecards quickly and they have such an elegant look and feel. I hope you find some time to play along.
Finished Size: 4.25 x 535"
