The Card Concept #12 - Nautical

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  It's a gloomy sort of day in the Chicago area - the weather is really hot and humid and the sky is over cast. After a quick run to the grocery store, and a stop at a local Chinese restaurant for a little take out for lunch - I'm back home.  I think I'll stay in until later in the day when it gets a little cooler.   The up side of that?  I got a little crafty time to make a card for The Card Concept.  If you're playing along there's still time - 6 days to go!  SO get to it!  LOL!  The weather has been calling me outside lately - you know.. grab a cold drink - maybe a tall iced tea, a good book, and sit in the shade weather?  

What a great photo for inspiration!  I love the nautical theme - perfect for a hot summer day!  I took a few elements from the photo to add to my design, including the anchor, silver trim, square gift box, circular tag and of course the rope trim.  No flowers on this one  - a masculine birthday card.

The Challenge #9 - You're So Cool!!

Did you have a good weekend?    I did!  I had my parents over for Father's Day - the weather was great, and we had a wonderful dinner.   I even made a few frozen drinks - pina coladas and margaritas.  I'm going to have to remember that - happy hour before dinner!  No arguments and everyone got along beautifully LOL!!!  We ate barbecued ribs, corn on the cob, baked beans, corn bread, salad, and finished up with banana cream pie!

I 'm playing along at The Challenge.  A new two week sketch challenge begins today!  The Challenge was  created by Lesley Croghan and is hosted on her blog  Always Playing with Paper.  Lesley is the creator of lots of wonderful challenges including Fusion, Dynamic Duos, Seize the Birthday, Seize the Sketch, Card Concept, and Merry Monday.     Check out the sketch she has for us this time.  This one is just about perfect for any image or sentiment you'd like to highlight.   Summer always makes me think of cooking outdoors, cold drinks, ice cream, and popsicles.  Doesn't this just look so yummy?

Serendipity Stamps Summer Release Day 3 -Nouveau Designs

Happy Father's Day! I wonder how many BBQ grills are going to be fired up today in the US? I know mine is going to get a work out! I'm going to make some Baby Back Ribs for my dad, and my DH! It's the last day of the Serendipity Stamps previews of the new summer release. We've got a few new dies, some sentiments and a zentangle inspired background, and today we're showing some nouveau images. I made two projects today.  The first features the Peacock Nouveau, and Branch Nouveau stamps.  I stamped the peacock first and then created a mask.  I just stamped the bird on a sticky note and fussy cut the image.  Then I placed the sticky on top of the stamped image and then stamped the branch.  I removed the sticky note and magic - they're one image!    

The next card I made features the Nouveau Butterfly

I stamped the butterflies with Memento ink, colored them up with Copic markers and then hesitated about covering them all up - so I added a gold embossed vellum sentiment to let them peek through.
