Simple Stories Flea Market Collection

Hi friends! Today I’m excited to share EIGHT cards made with the Simple Stories Flea Market Collection! Just as the name implies, it captures the excitement of a treasure hunt! If you’ve ever gone antiquing or to a flea market you know that there is nothing better than finding that special something that brings back memories of a different time and a different place.

You’ll love the retro prints and eclectic mix of patterns and colors. You’ll find vintage furniture (settee’s, armchairs, lamps), collectables (plates, china, books) and handmade items (paintings, macramé, textiles) to make your heart happy.

I had fun creating scenes with the vintage items. There’s lots of fun prints perfect for wallpaper and flooring. Reimagining the labels in the collection I created throw rugs and framed mirrors.

There are three different packs of bits and pieces in this collection so you have lots of images to work with. Add in the chipboard and 12” sticker sheet in the collection pack and you’ll have more than enough for lots of pretty cards or pages.

I used the decorative brads in the collection to look like pillows on furniture, a plate on the wall, and on one card a clock! I added flowers to empty vases and added hangings to walls.

I like to arrange the different images on sheets of clear plastic the size of my card bases. If you’re not sure where you want to put the stickers, just add some powder or corn starch to their backs to remove the tackiness from their backs so you can take your time with placement. When your ready to adhere just add a little liquid adhesive.

I like that the collection has different sentiments that are appropriate for every day and just staying in touch. I will never get tired or receiving a handmade card in the mail – it’s like a big hug from the recipient. I like to put them on display because they make me smile every time I look at them!

I used Simple Stories Color Vibe 12” cardstock sheets to add solids and to matt my designs. Simple Stories has a Color Vibe solid to match EVERY collection they have. For this collection I used Sunshine Peony and Robin’s Egg.

My Creative Scrapbook February 2023 Creative Kit

This time I'm working with the February Creative Kit. This kit includes die cuts, stickers, stencil and premium 12" papers from Simple Stories Heart Eyes Collection. I love that every month there are collections from my favorite brands and that the papers are original weight designer papers - no thin flimsy paper here!

This month's kit is all about sending a little love! You'll have Valentines for all different ages made in no time. You have florals for your serious crush and total cuteness for the kids, friends, and galentines!

I always want to see ALL the images before I get started. This helps me figure out what images work well together. To remove the stickiness from stickers I powder their reverse side with baby powder. I cut apart the foam stickers that are on clear sheets. Then I arrange until I'm happy before committing and adhering them in place with liquid glue.

Just as an example, I selected lots of sweet treats paired with a cup of coffee for a perfect pairing.

The kits always include lots of sentiments too so you'll be able to make lots of cards or pages for documenting your favorite memories. The papers in the kits are 12" so you're not limited to any particular papercraft.

As a card maker I like to break down the 12" sheets. I cut apart the tags and journaling cards (depending on the kit) and the 12" papers into 6" squares. The smaller sheets make it easier for me to see all the prints when I lay out the papers on my desk.

The only things I added to this kit are the adhesives, card bases, envelopes, enamel dots and the solid cardstock matts that frame the layouts. Everything else you see on my designs is included in the kit this month.

Smile Somebody Loves You

I'm a little late kicking off my week.. it's Tuesday but it feels like Monday. I was blessed to have my son stop by yesterday and take me to lunch. You have to grab an opportunity when it presents itself so the blog just had to wait!

Today I'm playing along at Sunday Stamps where they've got a color challenge. I love green and blue together and all these pretty shades are gorgeous!

My card starts with a layer of medium green cardstock topped with a lime panel of cardstock. I topped the panel with an aqua panel that I cut with the Waffle Flower Outlined Circles die.

 

I cut the die a second time with a lighter shade of aqua cardstock and layered it over the previous cut. I love how the stacked dies add dimension and how the lime cardstock peeks through the open circles.

I topped the clean die cut background panel with an Oversized Smile die cut and sentiment. A sprinkle of silver glitter enamel dots are the finishing touch!

I like how the enamel dots repeat the circle pattern of the Outlined Circles die cut.
