Warm Winter Wishes

Today I'm playing at the Neglected Stuff Challenge and the item I feel is most neglected in my craft room at the moment is my foil laminator. I'll be honest.. I never had much luck with the Spellbinders Glimmer machine.. I cringe at the amount of paper I've thrown away at 50 cents a sheet. And while alot of it would be "passable" in the real world.. when you're taking close ups like me and you're looking through a zoom lens you really see all the flaws. That kind of turned me off foiling.

The solution for me is the Pink and Main Minc machine. With this process you use preprinted toner sheets called Foilables, and you laminate them with your choice of Cheerfoil colors and let me tell you there are ALOT! This system even works well with toner sheets you create yourself using a laser printer. These are perfect every time and totally flawless. The only problem here? Trying to photograph the shiny foil so that it doesn't look black! I guess you can't win them all!

These Foilable sheets are printed in color and I just added a Translucent Opal foil to them so the color still shows through. For this card I used a snowflake panel and added gems to all the snowflake centers.

The Foilable pack I used is called Winter Spotlight Sayings. You can use the coordinating die set to cut out the sentiments and/or the individual snowflakes. I used the snowflake panel as a background for my design. You can see the photography issues below.

I want you to see all that shine, but when it's too shiny you get alot of glare.. so I'm still neglecting my foil on my blog. But not because it's not working, but because i need to sort out my photography!

Layle By Mail Season Pass - January / Winter

Today I’m sharing four cards made with the latest Layle By Mail Season Pass 2.0 for Winter/Spring. The paper pack includes (12) exclusive 12x12 double-sided papers (and the 12x12 cover sheet also has an additional pattern on the back side!). I also used the exclusive die cuts and wordstrip stickers on my designs.

From ringing in the new year in January, Valentine fun in February, and the magic of Spring in bloom, everything in the Winter/Spring Season Pass 2.0 is designed to help you capture the season’s most meaningful moments with ease and style. My focus today was creating four January/Winter themed cards.

This kit is ideal for documenting special moments or creating fun cards to celebrate the change of season with family and friends. The papers and die cuts are easy to separate into the different occasions, but are also perfectly coordinated to work together if you like. Just as an example.. the die cuts include some birds that are probably more appropriate for Spring, but my mind kept thinking snowbirds!

I like to use the 3x4” journaling cards to create focal points for my designs. They are usually a solid color which makes them perfect for layering over busy pattern papers. Some even have printed sentiments so all you need to do is add embellishments!

The die cut pack also includes some labels perfect for personalizing your designs. You can add the name of the recipient or a sentiment. This label with the little snowflake print was perfect for framing the larger snowflake I used.

The kit has everything you need to make all of my cards. The only items I added are the card bases, solid cardstock matts, adhesives and gems from my stash.

Whatever you decide, you know it’s going to look great because everything is color matched and perfectly coordinated to work together.

I like to use the 3x4" journaling cards and journaling bits sheet to create focal points for my designs. I don't limit myself to whatever sentiment is printed on them, it's easy to cover them with images or perhaps a larger sentiment.. it's all up to you!

I make my own sheets of foam adhesive by purchasing inexpensive craft foam and adding double sided tape to the front and back. Then I just cut the size I need to raise small or large embellishments. Adding some dimension this way gives your designs a fussier layered look.

Everything you see on my cards is included in the kit EXCEPT for the white cardstock card bases, solid cardstock cover matts, adhesives and gems. Things that you already probably have in your stash right now.

You'll have fun making cards or documenting memories with this kit. No matter what your style too. I love to make scene cards, but collage, mixed media, clean and simple, layered..... whatever your style you make this kit yours!
