Stay Curious

Today I'm playing along at Creative Moments Challenge Blog where they're asking for Brights or Pastels and what's your favorite. Well if you know me you don't even need to ask this question.. totally a BRIGHTS gal here. I love making cards in colors that pop.. that makes recipients happy and double bonus.. they photograph well. In real life I am not a brights gal.. I do not wear bright clothing or decorate my home in bright colors. One exception to that would be the Christmas tree.. BRIGHTS!

This card starts with a Distress Oxide blended background. I added a sea floor with one of the dies from the Under The Sea set. It's meant to bee used vertically, I layed it horizontal.

Next I added seaweed, coral and divers helmet. It was fun adding more smaller shells and a school of fish with a silly eye to finish the design.

The sentiment is stamped directly on the blended background. I used Versamark ink so it wouldn't blend or smear.

Hummingbird Hugs

Today I'm playing at Conjurer of Dreams Challenge where it's Anything Goes with a twist of Add a Pretty Bird. I'm also linking to Shopping Our Stash where the challenge is Summertime. They also want to remind you to use something you might already have on hand that hasn't had any love in a while.

My "pretty birds" are hummingbirds, and they're also "summertime" because that's the only time of year that I find them here in the Midwest.

My card starts with lots of layers of warm colors. I cut the yellow top layer with the Quatrefoil Texture, and then again with the Piercing Layers die. The bottom two layers (red and orange) are cut only with the Waffle Flower Crafts A2 Piercing Layers. I love the little dotted accent along the borders.

Next I added an Overlapping Vertical Hugs sentiment with Subsentiment, and of course the pretty Hummingbird die cuts. The hummers are easy to assemble with three layers and a little gem for the eyes.

My Creative Scrapbook June Kit

The paper prints are plaids, stripes, florals and hearts. They're mostly soft pastels with a bit of darker shades in complimentary colors. I found the prints really helpful for scene cards - like plaids for desktops and lighter prints for "wallpaper" backgrounds.

There are lots of sentiments in die cuts and stickers. I even cut a few sentiments from the printed paper to add to the designs.

Once your designs are laid out it's time for the embellishments. The collection has several round embellishments as well as different types of paper clips.

Everything you see on my cards is included in the kit EXCEPT for the white cardstock card bases, solid cardstock cover matts, adhesives and enamel dots. Things that you already probably have in your stash right now.

You'll have fun making cards or documenting memories with this kit. No matter what your style too. I love to make scene cards, but collage, mixed media, clean and simple, layered..... whatever your style you make this kit yours!
