Cocoa Wonderland

Today I'm playing at The 12 Months' of Christmas Challenge where it's ALWAYS Christmas! I've got a new die set from Spellbinders called Cocoa Wonderland that I wanted to play with!

This cute little cocoa mug is Santa face shaped. and comes with lots and lots of treats to stuff in his cap of whipped cream!

I like that the face die includes an embossed outline to help you place the smaller die cut eyes, brows, and cheeks.

The background is an embossing folder impression called Cameo Christmas. The sentiment is from another Spellbinders die set called Gifting Bows. The finishing touch was a sprinkle of blue gems for some sparkly magic!

I hope you can catch a break and do some crafting. It's sure hot here and it's nice to relax and cool off indoors!

Summer Greetings

Today I'm playing at Crafty Animals Challenge where it's always about animals - don't worry .. insects and reptiles are welcome too!

Today I'm taking the Spe-Shell Turtles from Pink and Main on a road trip to the beach. The turtles were fun to color and easy to cut with the coordinating die set.

So where to put the water and where to put the sand right? I always arrange the images on a piece of clear plastic the size of my card base. I wanted to include as many of the turtles from the set so that made it a little more challenging. Slipping a piece of white cardstock under the clear plastic made it easier.. inking and taking a peek as I went.

I used Distress Ink on the background and Copic alcohol markers on the turtles. All that was left was adding a sentiment from the set!

Hummingbird Hello

I know.. it's Monday already! Where did the weekend go? I got my grocery shopping done and put away.. WHEW! So now it's time for a break and some time to make! Today I'm playing along at Cupcake Inspirations where this is the inspiration cupcake this time!

It's for the BIRDS! I love birds so of course I want to play along!

I started with that yellow cupcake and light yellow/green frosting! That's my background. I cut the panel with the Pretty Pink Posh Scallops Pierced Plate. I like how it takes a plain flat background to the next level.

I topped the panel with pretty flowers from the Floral Wreath Builder Die set. You can leave the flowers flat or stack them like I did. Pretty pearls make great flower centers! Wink!

The Stitched Hummingbirds are cut from white cardstock and inked with Distress Ink. I added silly eyes because I think they're more fun and a simple sentiment from Friend Greetings. I like the mixed font sentiment and how the die fussy cuts the words.

My Creative Scrapbook July 2025 Main Kit

This collection just screams Summer! The colors are bright and bold - think primary colors with added details in black for just the right amount of drama and contrast.

The kit has lots of different elements that I like to pair together. The animals, trees and clouds make great scene cards. A simple wave cut from green pattern paper becomes a hilly landscape, and blue print a sky.

Don't have a sun? Improvise like I did with a yellow flower! Sky doesn't need to be blue and grass doesn't need to be green.. use your imagination and see the world in your own unique way!

As a card maker I always start by cutting the papers down to 6x6" square that are more manageable for me. I like to keep the decorative edge attached (see the hearts on top of the stripes above as an example) whenever possible so I can use it on my designs. It looks like I coordinated it, but it was printed this way! The trim also makes great faux washi!

I like to use journaling cards and scraps of paper to make focal points so the die cut designs don't fade into the background when the patterns get busy.

I arrange the images on clear plastic sheets the size of my card front. This gives me a preview of what the finished card will look like before I commit and adhere everything in place. I can also slide pattern paper under the arrangement to see if my choices work well together.

The kit includes everything you need to make these cards. The only items I added were the card bases, solid cardstock papers, and adhesives. This time my kit included some sequins and buttons too that you'll see scattered throughout my designs.

The bright colorful designs in this kit are a feast for the eyes, but my favorite part was not having to go shopping. My Creative Scrapbook selects and assembles all the items and ships them straight to my door so all I need to do is make!

Rain or Shine

Hi and a big thank you for stopping to say hello! It's been mostly rain here for the past few days. Being inspired by nature I thought it would be fun to make a weather themed card.

I decided to focus on the rainbows that only a good shower can bring. My background papers (from the Pretty Little Studio Love Is Kind Collection) are sky blue. I topped them with a rainbow starburst print journaling card and some scallop die cut edges.

I topped that with some clouds! The yellow butterfly looks like the sun peeking through with the promise of a beautiful day!

The collection has lots of great sentiments to choose from but I knew that this was the one! 

Rain or Shine I hope you always find the rainbows and that I leave you smiling today!
