Folk Art Reindeer

Today I'm playing along at Crafty Animals where it's always Anything Goes but you must add an animal to your design. Any time I get a holiday card done it's a good thing!

This card features the Folk Art Reindeer. It's a two layer die, but also includes some foliage and berries to layer around the antlers and neck if you like. I used them to decorate the Triangle Trees in the background.

I used the oval die cut from the Folk Art Bird to add a frame for a scene. I cut a curvy snow drift and added a circle die cut for a sun in the bright blue sky.

The background was created with the Two Step Chevron stencil. I stamped the sentiment directly on the inky panel along the bottom edge of the card.

The finishing touch is always a bit of bling. In this case its a few baby blue enamel dots.

My Creative Scrapbook January 2024 Main Kit

I really love Vicki Boutin's style because she embraces nature with color. The images are always beautiful and there is an "edgy" element to her designs. I love the pop of graph paper and newsprint mixed in this time.

The colors are primarily orange and blue with pops of yellow, purple and olive. You'll find lots of florals, art supplies (think scissors, paint brushes, color wheels etc.) and beautiful butterflies! There's also a mix items you might find on your desk like a typewriter, coffee cup, and pencils. This collection is about discovering the beauty in the everyday ordinary of daily life.

It was easy to add lots of layers to these beautiful cards. I used larger elements like die cut clipboards, envelopes and frames to add focal points for my designs.

Next I tried to "pair" different elements that might work together well - like a pencil with the typewriter, or some florals with the coffee cup. Many of the elements are proportioned to work well together to compliment each other.

I mixed paper patterns to create "table covers" and "wallpaper" to "ground" elements and to create table scenes.

Everything you see on these cards is included in the kit. The only items I added are the following: card bases, solid paper for matts, adhesives, washi and enamel dots.

I cut Shaker Tags from white cardstock and then added Distress ink in colors that coordinated with the colored images.

After I decided where the stamped images would go, I added a sentiment - directly stamping it on the inky tag.

The cute images are adhered with adhesive foam tape to add some dimension.

The finishing touch was a sprinkle of On The Town Gems.
