He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for almost 50 years and knows just about everything there is to know about trains. He is a country boy at heart... he loves the man in black (Johnny Cash), baseball, and most of all his family. Now that he is retired he likes to do a little crafting himself - he paints! I know he will like this colored train image. I like how the neutral/dark background makes those colors really pop. The soft Copic coloring make this look like a watercolor painting.
I wanted to keep this one more masculine with the colors, twine, and buttons. I kept the doily frame - since it isn't too intricate and gives a vintage look to my card. Thanks for having a look - I hope you like it and that you have a beautiful day!

LOL, I am glad your father in law likes most of his family. He sounds like a wonderful man. I hope your son wont be in too much pain.
Gorgeous card and it does have a vintage look to it. Love the deep colors in the background and the brown button with the tag attached .. perfect! I bet when you saw that stamp you knew you had to have it.
What a gorgeous gorgeous card! I struggle so much with man cards! This vintage beauty is fantastic! :-))))
The Father's Day cards you've shared are some of the best I've ever seen. The coloring on your train image is definitely on a professional level and I love the colors you chose.
Plus, I have another sketch to play with now. :) Have a great weekend Jeanne!
This is an amazing card. I love the image of the train, and your coloring is incredible. How fantastic that your dad paints. Do you think you could get him to stamp? How cool would that be. Hope your son is doing OK. I remember wisdom teeth removals, and they are not fond memories.
This is a very masculine looking card Jeanne, but...lots for us gals to love too. I love your coloring of the train, the rick rack, neat button and that great roman numeral paper in the background. Hope your son is doing ok, wisdom teeth are no fun to have removed.
Wow, what a small world. My husband's grandfather worked for Illinois Central Railroad, then GULF, for over 20 years. Retired in 1965. He was an engineer then lost his hearing and became a coach cleaner. I know he would certainly have LOVED your outstanding card as I'm positive your Dad will!! You make wonderful stuff. :)
Hugs,
Lisa xx
Wow, Jeanne, this is a beautiful card for your dad!! Love your colouring, it looks Amazing!
It's so cool that your dad paints! So being an artist runs in the family:) I'm sure you're dad is going to love this card! That train image is so cool! I love how you used the doily background without it becoming too girly:) Hope your son feels better soon! Getting your wisdom teeth out can be a nightmare!
