Tag You're It - Floral

Do you love tags?  Well then!!   LOL!  You'll be wanting to join us over at Tag You're It Challenge!  We have a new challenge every other Friday, and YES!  We're all about the tags!  I love tags - they're like a mini canvas to work with so usually designs come together quickly and of course a tag is a great way to dress up just about any gift from a bag of home made treats to a bouquet of flowers!

The tag this time is by Michele Ferguson and WOW!  What a knock out!  I love the unusual shape of the tag - it's quite long isn't it?  The embossed background ..  and the way she matched the color of the flowers with the bow on top!

Lots of times I will try to purposely steer things in a different direction (such a rebel),  but this tag was too perfect for me to alter!  I adore flowers and I'm happy to "follow the leader" this week.
I used flowers from Reverse Confetti to create a simple spray complete little berries (ok they're clear sequins!) on an embossed background.

I didn't have a tag this shape so I used a pennant die and rounded the top corners with a 1/2" Corner Chomper.
I know you're going to love all the projects from the rest of the team.  You can see them all here at Tag You're It Challenge!  I sure hope you join us - you wont want to miss trying this lovely for yourself!

Poppystamps Challenge - Shake it Up!

I told you it was a great day for playing challenges! Here's another new one from Poppystamps! If you love dies - you'll love these from Poppystamps! They're from the creator of Memory Box - Dave Brethauer, and they are the same quality and beautiful designs you've come to love. Our challenge this month is "Shake it Up!" We're looking for shaker cards for any occasion.  You can find the challenge here on the Poppystamps blog.  Just click on the tab at the top of the page or the challenge button on the side bar.  It will always take you to the latest challenge.
Shakers are so easy to make with different die cut shapes.  Here's mine for today's challenge..

I started with a watercolor panel that I cut the Stitched Web die from.  I cut a second web die from silvery glitter paper to insert into the opening.   I put plastic sheeting on the inside of the water color panel, and attached the web to the plastic on the front of the panel.
Next I created a wall of foam tape surrounding the die cut opening on the back of the water color panel.  I left an opening at the top so I could pour in the sequins after I attached it to the card base.

I used a piece of scrap paper to create a funnel, and then poured the mix of sequins inside.  Lastly I added a strip of adhesive foam tape to close the opening.
What was left?  Decorating!  I added a spooky mansion under a full moon, and ghosts!

I drew a string from the web and added a little die cut spider.  I put a jewel on his back because some part of me thinks that everything that is evil should be attractive.   I mean if it wasn't appealing why would we be so tempted by it's allure?

All the dies are from Poppystamps except the stitched circle - that's from Memory Box.
This will be a special treat for someone at Halloween - If I can pry it out of my hands and part with it!  I'm smitten with a shaker card and Halloween is my favorite holiday!  I hope you'll stop by and join us at the Poppystamps Challenge.  You only need to use one Poppy die on your project, and we'd love to see what you make!

RC SFYTT#39 Thank You For Being A Friend!

Can you believe it's August already? I mean it sure feels like it ! Is it hot where you are too? I think the whole month of July felt like August.... but just hearing the name of the month.. August.. makes me think summer is over. Maybe that's from "back to school" - still traumatized as an adult LOL! I suppose it won't change my schedule too much now! It's just a reminder to enjoy today - spend a few extra moments basking in the sunshine!

If you love challenges today is the day for you - there are so many now that begin on the first of the month. It's a great way to see products you might already have in use, and if you play along you might just be adding some new goodies to your own stash! Here's the August Reverse Confetti Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT). You can always find it on the Reverse Confetti Blog just by clicking on the "Current Sketch For You To Try" button in the right column.

Here's my take on the sketch....

I used the sketch to create the base of my card. Since the circle is the focal point in the sketch I added a sentiment from the Labeled Stamp Set there.
I used the Labeled Confetti cut on the sentiment.  The double layer makes a great matt so you can add more color.   I used a yellow matt to pick up on the yellow in the background papers.
If you look close you can see I added a little yellow cardstock border too - this was cut with the Double Scallop Border die.  That is one of my favorites - there is a different border on either side so you can choose large scallops or small - it's like two dies in one!
I surrounded the sentiment with flowers from the Garden Bunch Stamp set.  The foliage is from Love Blooms.    I usually try to make more flowers than I will use whenever I'm stamping.  I always save a few - so the next time I pull out the set I already have leaves or flowers to work with - it's a real time saver.
I added some Twinery Buttercream Twine under the label - I think this helps things look like they are anchored and not floating in space.  Did you know that Reverse Confetti carries Twinery Twine?   You can find it here.  You can select the color you want and a 15 yard skein is $3.00
Thanks for visiting today!  I hope this is the start of a great month for all of us!
