Today we're featuring two new dies - a lighthouse and a sunflower. Both dies have lots of great details that make them easier to work with. For example, the lighthouse stripes and doors completely pop out so you can insert different colors. The little house, that the lighthouse keeper lives in, has a cut line - meaning it's attached only at the top and bottom so it's super easy and clean to cut away if you want to separate them.
The sunflower die cuts in three separate pieces - again - to make it easy to switch out the colors. The stem and leaves are one piece, the flower is a second piece, and the inside of the flower removes completely - no extra cutting required.
I double cut the flower head in two shades of yellow and off set the pattern of the petals to add a little depth and dimension. I also double cut the inside of the flower in two shades of brown. I removed the little die cuts from the center of the darker die cut. Next I added tape to the back of the flower center so that the inside of the empty die cut spaces would be filled with sticky tape. Then I positioned the lighter die cut on top of the darker brown one and pushed the smaller pieces down into the waiting sticky holes. I use a wooden kitchen skewer to push the pieces through. I've dulled mine down so it's not sharp and doesn't leave an impression when your pushing the cut pieces through.
