SPDSS51 - Seaside Wishes and Salty Kisses

Is it summer yet?   Just kidding - but I sort of feel like the weather is teasing me a bit - typical Chicago.  One day its 80 degrees, and the next it's 45!  Some days I don't even know how I should dress!   I've said it before - the biggest part I love about crafting - I make the weather here!  LOL!  Total control!!  Today I'm playing with the Seaside Wishes set from Sugar Pea Designs!  This one always gets me thinking of vacation.  That's my happy place!

It's Wednesday so it's time for a new sketch at Sugar Pea Designs! The big winner ($75 gift certificate to Sugar Pea Designs) is selected monthly, but we have  a new sketch for you every Wednesday.  So how does that work?  It means you have fresh inspiration and your choice os sketches to work with since you only have to play along with one of the challenges to be entered to win.  The more challenges you play along with - the more entries you have for the prize.
I took a few liberties with the sketch - remember they are a guideline - not set in stone.  I substituted the waves and sand for the strip of washi on the sketch.   I added some glossy accents to the water and sprinkled some chunky clear glitter to add some sparkle.

Instead of the banner shape on the top I added a little button with a string bow.
The scatter of stars on the sketch are now seashell sequins - of course I had to add a little pearl inside - wouldn't you just love to find one of those?   The border along the top is from Pretty Pink Posh.  I used a corner chomper to round the corners.
My image took up most of the design so I stamped my sentiment along the side.  I stamped in brown ink vs. my usual black so it would blend in more with the soft colors.
I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black, and colored everything with Copic Markers.  I gave the background a soft peachy color, and added a few dots to the sandy beach.
Need a little more inspiration?  Check out more designs from the Challenge Design Team!

CAS-ual Fridays New Release Peeks Day 3 - Thanks

Big thanks for stopping by today! CAS-ual Fridays is sharing peeks of the newest release all week long! We've got lots of beautiful things to share - 5 New stamp sets and some new dies too. Today we're showing a new stamp set called "Thanks" and a matching "Thanks" word die. Michele is sharing projects from all the design team members and offering a $15 gift certificate all 5 days - so make sure you stop by her blog to enter to win.
The new "Thanks" Stamp set has lots of  sentiments in different fonts that you can stack  like I did here, or use on their own.

I made a simple watercolor wash background with oranges and yellows and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink.  Watercolor paper is usually hard to stamp on because it's not smooth.  I used my Misti and stamped the image several times to get a clean dark impression.

For my second card I thought I'd do something layered and fussy - to show how beautiful the images are no matter what your style.

I stamped both sentiments on pattern paper.  One is raised with adhesive foam tape, and the "so much" is left flat on the base of the card.
Instead of sequins I sprinkled on some die cut confetti .  The Fun Fetti  Fri die is perfect for this.  You'll find little hearts, stars, circles and flowers on this die - and guess what?  It's on sale!   The bit of blue punched scallop at the top left is the bottom of a Scallop Tag.

Ready to see more projects with this new die set? Here's a list of designers with projects to share today!

Before you go I want to mention that CAS-ual Fridays is having a sale - there's no coupon code required - that means you can double dip - if you use my special code below you'll save an additional 15% off the sale price!
