My answer is Copic Markers and I'll tell you why... Yes I know they are EXPENSIVE! But if you color almost every day like I do, you will find that the ink in your markers get used up FAST! With other brands I might have to buy a whole new pack of markers to get a color match or replacement. What I love about Copic is that they're REFILLABLE.
Copic sells a refill that can recharge my marker 6-7 times. So really they're not expensive.... because one marker is $6 ($5.85 at Carpe Diem Makers) one refill is $6 ($5.39 at Carpe Diem) so approximately $12 for a marker and a refill that will last as long as 7 markers. If I had to buy 7 separate markers it would cost a bit more. Yes you can replace the tips too as they wear. They're the last marker you'll ever buy.
And you really don't need EVERY color. Start out with sets of 3 in ombre shades of your favorite colors
My card today starts with a Distress Ink panel topped with a Waffle Flower Triple Line Diamond Background. The ombre background helps define the space so the florals don't look like they're floating.
Next I colored flowers and foliage from the Small Bouquet stamp set and arranged them in containers from the Vase Variety die set.
A sentiment from Essential Celebrations is a adhered along the top of the card. I love that the coordinating die set cuts around the entire sentiment so that it looks like it was fussy cut.. only better than I could do it! LOL!

I hope you are keeping warm and find time to play along. I'd love to read what your favorite media is and why! There's lots to choose from out there!

Lovely card, those blooms are sweet!
Hi Jeanne, I really appreciate all the insights you've shared about Copic markers, and thanks also for posting your source for buying them. Those are more affordable prices than I've seen elsewhere.
I don't honestly do a lot of coloring on my cards; I tend to go out of my way to buy silhouette style stamps that do not require a huge investment of time beyond the actual act of stamping, which is time consuming enough on its own. But if I'm going to spend time on coloring, my first choice of media is gouache paints, and my second is colored pencils. I don't happen to have any gouache paints at the moment, so lately it has been colored pencils.
I like gouache because I learned how to paint with it in design school, so I'm more proficient with it than I am with most other types of media. I'm inept with markers in comparison. I definitely appreciate the work that other artists are doing with Copics, but I haven't been able to take the plunge and actually splurge on them for myself.
I definitely see the appeal of a refillable marker. It drives me bonkers, thinking about how all the plastic from discarded markers ends up cluttering up landfills forevermore. That's another reason I reach for pencils so frequently. I feel good about being able to compost the wood shavings left over after using them.
I LOVE all of the Purples you used on your floral card!
Thanks for sharing your talent.
