Happy New Year! And Happy First Birthday to Fusion Card Challenge! Looking back to 2014 we've seen a lot of changes in our little crafty community - magazines and challenges that we loved gone. I'm so glad to see Fusion going strong. I've been trying to stay active and support and play at places I love. If you haven't played at Fusion before I hope you give it a try. Their challenge is unique because you can use the photo or the sketch to inspire you. If you're feeling clever you can FUSE the two together. I actually like to use both because it actually seems easier to me. The photo helps me decide what set of stamps and colors I want to work with, and the sketch tells me how to lay it all out.
I tried to incorporate many of the elements of the sketch in my design.... the banner, chalkboard, gold frame, and birthday theme.
I layered a gold die cut background over patterned paper - leaving some of the cut outs in tact.
As part of the birthday celebration I was able to invite one of my friends as a guest this challenge. I asked Cathy Weber - who was on the Fusion Design Team long before me. I thought she might like to visit with old friends! :) I hope you tell her hi! Supplies Used: Finished Size 4.25 x 5.5"
