Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger - A Plate of Pretty Poppies

Hi!  Another busy week for me!  Why couldn't the 4th of July be on the weekend?  Or at least on Friday!  It would have been nice to make a long week end of it.!  Although my neighborhood still had a lot of sparks in the air it was nothing compared to previous years.  Maybe everyone else has the same idea and will stretch it out into this weekend.  We put off any fireworks ourselves until my son, Roger, makes it back from his backpacking adventure in New Mexico.

Today I'm playing along with the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger Challenge.  When I saw that gorgeous plate of poppies I couldn't resist. I am crazy about color and the red in this one really spoke to me. I started by mimicking that gorgeous porcelain plate - I thought my Waltzingmouse wild rose stamp looked a lot like a poppy so I started there.  I colored it twice and fussy cut it so I could pop up the center.  Here's a close up...
I copied the red and white scalloped design on the tag as well as the big flap on the card.  I embossed it to add the elegance of the china, and topped it with a big bow with a pretty brad like the poppies in the photo.

To get the effect of the cloth under the plate in the inspiration photo I took a foam pop dot and stuck it on the end of a wood skewer (for grilling), and randomly inked it with different colored ink pads.  Don't forget to clean it off in between colors!!!  And there you have it....
Thanks for stopping by and having a look - this was a really fun challenge and a great escape for me last night!  I stayed up into the wee hours but didn't even know it until I was done!  Hugs and have a great weekend!

Jeanne

I have never seen that flower look so good. Wow! Love your interpretation of the photo. I see a win with this beauty. Gorgeous card and perfectly colored. The 4th was a bit turned down here too. Cant do fireworks at our house too close to the foothills.

Your flower is amazing, especially the bright pop of yellow-green in the center. Love the bold scallops and colorful "confetti" at the bottom!
