My paper crafting obsession started when I began making scrapbooks to document family vacations, holidays and special memories that I never wanted to forget. When I got more confident in my abilities, I started making mini books for coaches, school and scouting friends - people like me who volunteered their time because they wanted to help make a difference in our church and school community. At the time, like many volunteers, I suspected they weren't feeling so appreciated. I knew if they could see themselves through my eyes that they would know that there could be nothing further from the truth. I didn't want them to forget the time they selflessly gave to others, and remind them why they did it.
I started my blog, A Kept Life (link http://akeptlife.blogspot.com), in 2011. I was astounded by the number of people who love to craft (just like me). I started playing along with challenges sponsored by my favorite stamp and die companies. The occasional win helped build my confidence and defer some of the costs of my costly habit. I got to make friends there too. Visiting the same people every challenge helped me become part of the crafty community.
I would dream of some day being on a design team or seeing some of my own creations published in a craft magazine. I know that if you believe in yourself and work hard doing what you'll love that you'll always succeed. There's been rejection along the way but WOW! I've been blessed!! I've been on several design teams, and I've been published over 200 times! There's a lesson there.. never give up!
I’m blessed with the many friends I’ve made who share my paper crafting obsession. I can't thank you enough for your kind words and encouragement and for joining me on my crafty adventure. Blessings and love to you! I can't wait to see what's next!
