Tuesday Throwdown - Cream in My Coffee

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  I hope you are having a great day!  DH is back to working days, but I am enjoying this week with my son who has the week off before it's "back to school"!   He's 19 so in lots of ways we are in two different worlds.  We're meeting in the middle - hitting the shows and going out for lunch.   I'm glad he's not afraid to be seen about with his mom!  

Today we were heading out to lunch when we saw this little turtle trying to cross the road.  I did a quick U turn and he jumped out to capture him.  We deposited him near the pond on the other side of the road (maybe that's where he was headed?) so he's safe and sound.  Looks like a baby snapper!  Where is Turtle Man when you need him?  I think we did him proud at least! LOL!!

Today I'm playing along at Tuesday Throwdown!  The challenge this time is to add texture!  I'm playing along with the Waltzingmouse Coffee Time stamp and die set.  The set has lots of cute little cups and accessories as clever sentiments to match perfectly!   The dies are open window cuts making them easy to place over your stamped images and get the perfect cut every time. 

My favorite way to add texture to a design is with adhesive foam tape.  I love how the popped up images add so much dimension!

The other thing I don't think I could ever do without is my Twinery Twine!  I love the color and how adding just a little bit seems to tie everything together.  It keeps images from having that "floating" look to them. 

 I used a punch to cut the scallop border and stamped little flowers on each of the scallops.

Freshly Made Sketches - Pink Butterfly

I know you love crafting, and I know you love playing challenges - I guess if you didn't then you wouldn't be visiting me here today!  Well good news!  Top Dog Dies is helping celebrate the 200th birthday of Freshly Made Sketches!

I wanted to keep mine clean and simple (yep!  a totally flat card from me today on card stock no less!   LOL) so I cut the Butterfly die from white card stock and then used the Dotted Border set to make the fancy edge. 

Because the Buttterfly die is so fancy I wanted to keep the other elements fancy too - hence the double dotted border and the fancy script sentiment from Waltzingmouse "Big Day Essentials".

I inlaid the butterfly die and matted it on slightly darker pink card stock so that it would peek through the die cut windows.  The only white pieces I reinserted were the ones around the antennae.   If you wanted to make this a little fancier a second butterfly attached only at the center with the wings loose would be nice too.
