Twinery & Top Dog Dies Blog Hop - Thanks a Bunch!

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  The design teams from The Twinery and Top Dog Dies have joined together for a hop.  This is the third day of hops so there's lots of inspiration to be had using your dies and twine together!  If you're following along with the hop you should have reached me from Suzanna Lee's blog.  If you want to start from the beginning you can find the complete list of designers as well as get all the details on The Twinery Blog or Top Dog Dies Blog.

The Twine I used on my project today is called Carribbean.  It's a beautiful blue/green that always makes me think of summer. The dies I'm working with are Pretty Petals, Mini Flower, and Butterfly.
The butterfly is a two piece set. It comes with an intricately cut butterfly as well as the profile of a butterfly.  I took the profile and attached it to the flat butterfly to add dimension to the wings.   The Pretty Petals is a set of six flower die cuts.  I used only one flower cut several times in graduating colors to make full flowers with button centers.  The Mini Flower die I used as an accent to the background.  You can see them scattered about in pastel colors.

Here's my finished card:
Ready to see more?  The next stop on the hop is Stacey Schafer.  Before you go please be sure to leave a comment.  Top Dog Dies will be giving away exclusive wafer thin dies ($50 retail value), and The Twinery will be giving away a wonderful sampler of colors.

Gallery Idol 2014 - Washi

Have you seen that Paper Crafts Connection is hosting their annual Gallery Idol?  The first round is an open audition with a theme of washi.  I'm sort of feeling "out of my league" and apprehensive, but with a little shove from a few friends - should I name names?  OK Cathy and Tracey this is on you!  Am I feeling confident riding on the kind words of some big hearts?  Open for rejection? What if I don't make it to round two?  I guess I'll never know if I don't try.  Maybe you should too?    What do we have to loose?  I know.. only our pride and self esteem right?  That's ok!! We can take it!  I've been told "No" more than once in my life LOL!

I decided to use all sorts of pretty washi that I've been collecting to make a color block background.  I just picked patterns and colors that I thought worked together - just like patterned paper, and threw in a few for a little whimsy - like the fruit.  I die cut the sheet and inserted the die inside.  The sentiment was stamped on white card stock, and attached so it all lays flat.

Interested now?  Want to see all the other projects linked up?  Only 20 will make it to the next round.   You can see them here in the PCS 2014 Gallery Idol Flickr Gallery.  Wish me luck!
