SPDSS46 - Precious Baby!

Happy Wednesday! It's time for your Sugar Pea Designs Sketch fix!   We have a new sketch every week with samples from the design team, but the prize is drawn monthly.  This means you have all month to play along with us! You are welcome to play along with all the sketches or just one but remember the more times you play along during the month, the better chance you have of winning a $75 gift certificate to our store!!!

You know I totally love  sketch to play along with.  It takes some of the guess work out of what I'll be making.  I usually look at the sketch and try to envision different images in the shapes of the design.   This is the perfect sketch if you have the Stitched Flags die set -  I cut that big flag in the background with it!

I decided to put an image in the circle on the sketch, and a sentiment on the little flag on the left side.   I don't have many baby stamp sets - but when I saw this set called "Welcome Baby" I was sold!  There are so many cute stamps in the set - a rocking horse, a onesie.. and check that bitty rattle!

The rocking horse die is from the Welcome Baby Accents die set!  Isn't it sweet with the little cut out heart?  I thought the ledger paper with the numbers would be great for baby- I remember filling out albums for my kids - with a photo every month and writing down developmental landmarks - you know baby's first steps, eating with a spoon.. first words.

The Zig Zag Stitched dies are a must have - the circle set includes 6 nested dies that will work with all your stamps.  They add that nice stitched detail around the outside edge of the circle that make this extra fancy!

Pretty Little Studio Pinterest Inspired - But First.. Chocolate!

Do you ever feel like your creating needs a little kick start? No worries! We've got you covered! Here's our Pinterest Inspiration photo for this week at Pretty Little Studio!

So what do you see? I'm loving the texture - smooth sheets, thick soft blanket, and warm comfy socks! Looks like someone is as snug as a bug in a rug! LOL!! Lot's of us are dealing with the flu now with the season's changing - and the weather getting warmer. What could be better that staying in bed with a hot cuppa your favorite and a good book?

No need to adjust your screen - my design is totally monochromatic - just like the photo. Something different and unexpected for a color lover like me. What is really amazing about this is how all the grays from the different products match perfectly. I'm always disappointed when I start working with a collection and the colors / shades just don't match. Not the case with these products from Pretty Little Studio - and I used LOTS of different items - just check the ingredient list at the bottom of this post. 

My card base is very simple - just one layer here - a sheet from the Wonderland Collection. If you are a card maker like me you are going to love the new 6x4" Paper Packs! Since most of my cards are A2 size (4.25 x 5.5") these are perfect!

I chose to use a Chill Out | Journaling card from the Wonderland Collection - The chocolate sentiment was calling to me.
Next for lots of embellishments... a Strawberry Swirl Flair (they remind me of peppermints! - and there are 6 in a package in a nice variety of colors!), and circle stickers from Planner Stickers Winter Circles.

This little flag is from another Planner Stickers set - Flannel Garland. A tip for you - if you want to make your stickers a little less "sticky" so they will be more forgiving if you aren't sure where they will be mounted and you might want to move them around just sprinkle them with talc. I have my handy embossing buddy - a little pouch with non stick powder in it used to remove static when heat embossing. I put the sticker on the pouch and some of the powder adheres to the sticky back of the sticker. The sticker remains adhesive enough to adhere in place, but I can still move it around if I need to.

To dress up the journaling card I wrapped twine around it a few times and finished it with a bow and enamel dots. A peek of pretty doily makes everything just a little fancier. I cut the 4" Cambridge Doily in half to look like a tablecloth. I 'll save the other half for another project.

Seriously, isn't it amazing that all the gray's match perfectly? 

I hope our Pinterest photo inspires you to try something new! I was a little doubtful about the monochromatic design, but I'm so happy with the end result!

Happy Easter to Ewe!

A bit hello and Happy Easter to you! The first day of Spring was yesterday! Aren't you excited to start enjoying some warmer weather? The birds are singing in the mornings again and I'm seeing some green popping up in the flower bed! Have you started making your Easter cards yet? I couldn't resist this cute little lamb stamp! I know if it's got me smiling that it just has to be contagious and make you smile too!

I love mixing things up and using non traditional colors on projects. I can't tell you how close this little lamb was to being aqua blue. I took a vote here at home and the pink won out.

I started with a base of pretty pattern paper in Spring colors! I love lots of layers and I like to add lots of embellishments.

I wanted to add lots of drama to my focal point - the little lamb. To make it stand out more I made some big loops from Midnight Blue Twinery Twine and adhered them to my card base.

I knew I would be topping this with the colored stamped image so I didn't have to worry about the glue showing. Ranger Multi Medium Matt Adhesive keeps everything stuck in place.

I chose Midnight Blue Twinery Twine to add contrast to the colors on my project and make it stand out more. I adhered the stamped image with adhesive foam dots over the twine so just the loopy edges peek out. Twine is a great accent to add to just about any project. It lays nice and flat so it doesn't add much bulk when your mailing projects. It also adds a pop of color and texture to your layout!
The Twinery offers a great selection of twine in a color to match all your projects - and your choice of original striped or solid. I tend to gravitate to the striped - it always makes me happy. I love how it contrasts with all the dots on my design - the dots on the lamb, as well as the dots in the background paper.
