Fusion Card Challenge - Pinwheels

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great day! A new challenge begins today at Fusion Card Challenge! It's a great place to play and you'll love this challenge because there are three ways to play.. you can play along with the sketch, be inspired by the photo, or FUSE them together and play with BOTH!
I'm typically drawn to the inspiration photo.. the inspiration photo this time is called Pinwheels. I spy gold, grey and navy pinwheels that reminded me of foldable fans.. If you're not loving the photo, don't forget.. there are other ways to play along!

1. The inspiration photo
2. The sketch
3. Color challenge
4. Fuse them all together (you clever one!)

It's your choice, but I sure hope that you choose to play!
I couldn't get foldable fans out of my head so I took it that direction... I cut the Tutti Designs Fan Background die twice. My cut machine is getting older so the technique was easy.. one die cut all the way through and one still together in one piece. If you have a newer machine you can keep all the pieces together by adding packing tape to the back of your cardstock before you cut your die.
I colored the panel that is held together with Copic markers in shades of blue, yellow and grey. You don't have to be too careful coloring because you're going to cover your work with the clean cut die. I wanted lots of sparkle so I spread some Glitz glitter gel over the colored panel before I added the clean cut die.
A sparkly Big Hello Sugar Script is cut from navy glitter paper and a hot foil "sending hugs" sentiment from Poppystamps Modest Greetings is added just underneath.
Now it's your turn! I can't wait to see how you interpret the inspiration photo OR the sketch. Maybe you need a little more inspiration? Check out designs from the rest of the team. Just click on their names below to jump to their blogs.

I hope I see you at Fusion Card Challenge! It's a great place to play and make new friends! I'm always inspired by the team as well as the linked up designs!

Ni Hau- Lucky Birthday

Ready to take a trip? The Try It on Tuesday team is looking for cards that are travel and adventure inspired. I'm playing along with Waffle Flower Ni Hau stamp set with coordinating dies.

If you love to travel you'll find loads of popular travel cities and countries featured at Waffle Flower including but not limited to.. Paris, Rome, England, Mexico, Russia, Japan and yep! China too!
Each set includes iconic images as well as sentiments in the language of that country.

I created three little scenes using the Slimline Window Trio die cut. I inked each of the windows with distress ink and topped them with images from the stamp set.
I hope you find some time to stop by and play along!

Spellbinders Lene Lok Destination Japan Collection

Ready to take a trip? There's a new amazing collection at Spellbinders from Lene Lok called Destination Japan! I'm linking up to the Shop Your Stash Challenge where the theme this time is Oh The Places You'll Go where they're looking for travel themed projects.
There's lots of beautiful die cuts like this Kimono and Pagoda as well as Cherry Blossoms, Paper Cranes and Waves!
This card starts with the Kyoto Emboss fan background. After I embossed I ran a distress ink pad over the raised surface to bring out the details. I love that it cuts and embosses at the same time so there are some punched holes that let even more color peek through.
Both of the dies I used today include an outline die and a detailed die that inserts into the outline so no fussy cutting!
The Pagoda is a two piece die - the top arch of the Pagoda cuts separately from the base. This is a large detailed die that takes up an entire A2 size card.
I layered the Pagoda over an ombre blue card stock panel to contrast with the red and gold pagoda.
Again, this die set comes with a detailed die that inserts into the background die so you can cut either an outline or the detailed image.
I love celebrating different cultures and love this sweet escape to Destination Japan! Click here to jump to the Spellbinders store to see all of the inspired images.

I'm so excited! It's finally here! It's post day for The 12 Kits of Occasions! It was my turn to host and I chose an Asian theme of Good Fortune!

I tried to include a little bit of something to appeal to everyone in the group. Here's a peek at the kit I put together.
I always worry about what I send the group.. do these things all go together? Will they have fun making? I guess I had to prove to myself that it was all good so I tried to make with as much as I could so I made 8 cards!

I also invited four special guest to play along because crafty friends are the best! Please welcome...

New Sugar Pea Challenge Team - Have A Rice Day!

Oh Happy Day! I've got some good news to announce! And it's not just good for me.. it's good for you too!! Do you love Sugar Pea Designs? Well sit down.. you need to read this. Today we are announcing a new Sugar Pea Designs Challenge Blog! I am so excited to be joining their design team! Once a week - Every Wednesday, starting December 9 we will have a new sketch challenge. It's going to work a little different than your typical challenge... here's how..

Even though there will be a new sketch every week the challenge is monthly! So you can play any one of the sketches or all of the sketches when you play along. One winner will be selected MONTHLY from the entries. You DONT have to use Sugar Pea Designs products to win, however, if the randomly selected entry features SugarPea Designs stamp then the prize will be increased to $75!!!   Told you this would be great for you too!!
This post today is just to introduce you to the new team and let you know what's coming next week!  It was so hard to figure out what design would define me - or introduce you to me if you are new here.
I decided on this cute little penguin from ...  get this...  the name of the set?   "Rice Rice Baby!"  Of course a penguin is going to like sushi right?  I chose this little guy mostly because he makes me smile.    I like to color and the clean design makes this so easy for anyone.
I also love layers and lots of little embellishments on my designs.  I wanted to add a little "Asian" flair, so I dug up some of my treasured Basic Grey Konnichiwa paper.  I know red is lucky in Asian culture and have lots of pops of it on my design.
I wrapped some Twinery Solid Natural Twine around the card the same way you would thread a loop through a tag - feeding the double ends through the loop and pulling the ends to secure them.  Adding some glass e beads on the ends of the twine makes this fun and adds color.

Are  you ready to meet the rest of the team?

You can find the new challenge and get updates here at SugarPea Designs Challenge -  or on Facebook and Instagram.

I think this is going to be a fun adventure!  Don't you?
