Block Print Crane

Today I'm playing along at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where this time it's about Vacation! One of my favorite places is Hilton Head Island South Carolina. It has just about everything a nature lover could want.. the ocean, wildlife (think alligators and deer) and some of the most exotic looking birds in the United States!

I confess I'm a bird watcher! I keep different feeders in my yard to attract different varieties. So the beautiful birds available at Birch Press Design really speak to me.

I made a watery lagoon scene to showcase the Block Print Crane on my design. I die cut, assembled and arranged the images on a piece of clear plastic the size of my card base. This helps me decide what to put where before I commit and adhere everything in place.

I love a simple Distress Ink blended background. Deciding where to add the blue "water" and green "foliage" was easy because I could slip the inky sheet under the clear plastic that I have my images arranged on.

A sprinkle of gems is the finishing touch to add a little sparkle and design. I hope you have a beautiful day and find some time to make today!

Thanks for stopping by! I sure hope you're having a great day! Spring is in the air and I'm starting to see the return of migratory birds. I've got the grape jelly out for the Baltimore Orioles, and sugar water for the Hummingbirds!

It's really a treat to see them zipping around from flower to flower! I tried to capture what I see on my card today!

I started with the Block Print Passion Fruit Flowers cut from shades of red cardstock. They were easy to assemble and are big and bold. Of course they'd attract this pretty little Block Print Hummingbird!

I added extra foliage using the new Ornamental Branch and a few smaller flowers with the Block Print Tapestry Blooms die set.

I'm linking up to The Flower Challenge where this time they want you to add Spots or Stripes. I've added dotted stripes to the background with the Pinpoint Contour Plate texture die.

Lacy Cosmos

I hope you're enjoying your summer and that your surrounded by beautiful blooms. Maybe you're experiencing a little rain like we are here in the Midwest? That's ok.. that means it's time to turn to your crafting and make some pretty florals of your own!

I'm smitten with the new Birch Press Design Large Cosmos bloom! I think it looks amazing in just about every color I've seen it in. I cut mine from four shades of red cardstock to add some dimension.

I added a few Curved Leaf Branches for a bit of foliage. I cut the branch three times from three shades of green cardstock and then alternated them so I wound up with three completed branches.

Some Mixed Berries in turquoise add another layer of interest to the design, and a hot foil Thank You Noted Script Sentiment is the finishing touch!

I used the "C" layer of the Flora set for a lacy looking background that is subtle and detailed at the same time. I love that it doesn't distract from the beautiful floral! I hope you have a great day!

You Make Me Smile

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great day! Today I'm sharing a slimline card made with beautiful Birch Press Design Florals!

Flowers are my favorite and when they're bright and bold I just can't resist - like a little bee and think to myself... MORE PLEASE!!!

To get more from my panel dies I like to think of different uses for them. One example would be adding a texture pattern to another die cut - perhaps some alphabet letters. Just because the die is made for an A2 card doesn't mean that you have to stick with that size. I trimmed the Pinpoint Contour Plate die cut panel to 3 1/2" and layered it over a 3 5/8 X 6 1/2" aqua panel to make a longer slimline card.

I added the gold foil sentiment to the center of the card with adhesive foam tape so it's raised. Next I tucked in various shades of green foliage adhered flat to the card. The florals are all adhered with adhesive foam tape. I used berries as accents to coordinate with the blue background panel.

These gorgeous florals look amazing cut from any of your favorite shades - I made a whole bunch so all I have to do is arrange them and add a sentiment. They're a great addition to your stash!

Birch Press Design & Wow! Instagram Hop!

I wanted to give you a closer look at my project so you could see some of the detail and how I made it!

I think embossing powder is really unique.. beyond how it melts like magic when you apply heat, or how it sets glitter in place so you don't have to sparkle when you don't want to. It's great for making stamped images shine or for giving flat paper a glossy look. I thought I'd try blending it like ink!

I did use a cosmetic brush to apply the clear embossing ink. I didn't want any flat straight lines from the ink pad. I applied ink and powder to one section at a time. I suppose you could do it all at once, but this allowed me part of the panel to hold on to as well as overlap through the middle.

I inked and embossed a large panel of cardstock and then cut the Flicker Frame layers from it. I reserved the center portion to cut the backing for the ornament that sits inside the window. I cut all the layers alternating white cardstock and glittery cardstock to help define the pattern. I wish you could see how shiny this one is in person! It's really stunning and almost entirely glitter.
