Hello Sunshine!

Two fun facts about me.. first I love die cuts! If you took away everything else in my craft room and just left my dies and cutter I'd still be a happy gal! Second, I love playing challenges that I find on line. I think they're a great place to find inspiration and to get a sense of community in the crafty world. I love to see what people are making with and challenge myself to do something I might not try otherwise all at the same time.

If you love die cuts like I do then you're probably familiar with Memory Box. Did you know that they are the parent company of both Poppystamps and Birch Press Design? Today my card features dies from Poppystamps because I'm joining them for this month's challenge called Summer Daze.

This time they're looking for hot/warm summer colors, sunny skies, way to keep cool and /or have fun in the sun. I thought this scene card was just the ticket.

I cut waves of grass from green cardstock and added a sweet Nordic Happy Fox with some florals and butterflies in a sunny scene card.

Nordic Bundled Fox

Hi friends! I hope you're having a great day! I wanted to remind you to join us for this month's challenge at Poppystamps - "On Butterfly Wings". We want to see designs that include butterflies! I thought I'd make a scene card because those are always my favorite. I started by assembling the Nordic Bundled Fox, Nordic Sweeping Branch and Nordic Long Stem Mushrooms. I arranged them on a piece of clear plastic the size of my card base and arranged them until I was happy with the design. Because all the pieces are on a clear sheet I can slip different backgrounds underneath and move the entire design easily.

I added a background of patterned paper from the Poppystamps Birthday Fun 6x6 pad. One side of the pad is foiled and the other side is printed. I love the foil but it doesn't always photograph so well so I kept it plain.

If you look close you might notice that I altered some of the die cuts. I felt that the leafy branch didn't allow enough room for the butterfly so I snipped it, added the butterfly and then added the cut piece under the other side of the butterfly. That extended the die cut so that there are leaves on either side of the butterfly. I also cut the branch from the Mini Forest Plants die set. Don't be afraid to alter your dies, or let their original size limit your design!

The finishing touch is a simple foil sentiment strip from Memory Box. Easy Peasy! I hope you'll join me this month playing along with the On Butterfly Wings Challenge! We love seeing what you make!

Happy Spring Nordic Bunny

I'm so excited to see the change in the seasons here in the Midwest. The cold still creeps in at night, but the days are glorious sunshine! I hear the birds singing in the morning, the grass is green, and the trees are growing leaves!

I started with the cute little Nordic Happy Bunny. I cut the body in shades of white and brown. It was really easy to assemble. I couldn't resist dressing the bunny in shades of pink to match her ears and cute little nose. The die set includes the cardigan and scarf.

I added a Nordic Lavish Border in green to create a grassy foreground. This die set has three dies and any of them would look great. I selected the circular edge. A Nordic Lacy Plate is cut from white cardstock for the background and layered over the same shade of green to create a leafy looking background.

I added blooms from the Nordic Flower Bunch die set. They're adhered with adhesive foam tape to add some dimension. I added more layers to the flowers by stacking them. The finishing touch is the Hello Spring sentiment.

Poppystamps Cute Critters Challenge

Did you know that Poppystamps has a monthly challenge? It's a great way to find inspiration, see what others are making with their Poppystamps products, and even have a chance to win a gift certificate to the store. This month the challenge is Cute Critters, and Poppystamps has lots to choose from. Just be sure to include one on your design and link it to any on line gallery like Instagram!

I love making scene cards! This one came together quick! I started with a sky blue background and then added the Nordic Treeline row of green pines. The snow is cut from white cardstock, and white glitter cardstock with the hills from Whittle Field and Trees. I alternated the plain and glitter paper for some contrast.

The Nordic Playful Penguin looks like he's just met the Nordic Happy Snowman. I love that their outfits are similar - one in red and one in blue.

A circle cut from the Scallop Pinpoint Rings becomes a sun coming up behind the trees, and the finishing touch is a sprinkle of Fairy Crystals to look like snow!

Valentine Sweet Shoppe

Did you know Poppystamps has a monthly challenge? We love seeing what you're making and if you link up a design from any on line gallery, blog, or Instagram, you're automatically entered for the monthly $20 giveaway!

This month we're looking for something sweet! That could be taken literally - like cake or other treats, or it could be a sweet gesture - making a thank you or a card with a thoughtful gesture! It could even be a Valentine!

Today's card features the Corner Shoppe Pop Up Easel Die. It's easy to customize the store front by switching up the colors and adding different images in the windows. For my "something sweet" it's a bakery with cupcakes from the Corner Shoppe Dessert Stand in the window!

I cut the awning in shades of pink and white and added little hearts cut from the Heartfelt Pinpoint Frame A2 die. I always try to get more from my dies, and if you have a die with yummy negative cutouts don't throw them out! I save them in a little envelope and tuck it into the sleeve that holds the die!

I love the little Nordic Sweet Elf and this guy is not getting put away because the holidays are over. Simply by switching out his outfit color, he's transformed into a Valentine Elf! I added a little color to his cheeks with an alcohol marker.

A sentiment is stamped directly inside the card so when it's displayed everyone can read the message!
