My Creative Scrapbook August Main Kit

This time it's all about summer! You'll find bright colorful prints and images inspired by sunshine and blue skies! Think cool treats, beach vibes, and garden blooms!

This kit has lots of embellishments to choose from. I like to lay them all out so I know what I have. I add powder to the back of the sticker elements to turn them into "die cuts" so I can move them around as much as I like before I adhere them in place.

I like to use the cut apart 3x4 journaling cards to make focal points so the die cut images don't fade into the busy background papers.

The kit has lots of different elements that I like to pair together. This kit had lots of images of cold treats, beach elements, and elements for outdoor activities. I separated these for separate themed cards.

I arrange the images on clear plastic sheets the size of my card front. This gives me a preview of what the finished card will look like before I commit and adhere everything in place. I can also slide pattern paper under the arrangement to see if my choices work well together.

The kit includes everything you need to make these cards. The only items I added were the card bases, solid cardstock papers, and adhesives. This time my kit included some sequins and buttons too that you'll see scattered throughout my designs.

Layle By Mail Season Pass

I found a new place to play and some new papers and wanted to tell you about both on my post today! First.. I'm playing along at Love Those Pretty Papers Challenge! Where have you been my whole life? I love pretty papers too!

Next I wanted to let you know about Layle By Mail, I was first introduced to Layle Konar when I was on the Simple Stories design team. Layle was our coordinator and I was always impressed at how organized she was!

More than that.. Layle is a great designer and instructor! I've watched her videos at Scrapbook Dot Com on repeat to get ideas for journaling and documenting family vacations.

So learning that Layle started her own company and line of papers should not have been a surprise! Layle by Mail offers a seasonal monthly kit that includes pretty papers, washi, stickers and stamps! The kit comes in a reusable mesh bag and there are enough die cuts and papers to cover three months of cards!

My post today is sharing three summer cards - I'll show you three for back to school, and fall soon! All made with the same kit! The papers are high quality and everything is color coordinated to work together.

Layle By Mail Season Pass Summer/Fall

Waffle Flower August Release Sneak Peeks Day 2

It's Day 2 of the sneak peeks of the latest Waffle Flower Release. We're calling this release Summer Afternoon because it includes a mix of style from fluttering butterflies to tropical blooms!

Today we're going tropical! My card features the new Hibiscus Cluster Die! You can color it yourself with your favorite media or use the coordinating Hibiscus Cluster Stencil set! My son gifts me a Hibiscus plant every Mother's Day and I think these are just as pretty and Bonus.. I can ink them any color I like!

That amazing background is new too! These are two separate and completely stackable A2 size dies. The pierced layer is the Quatrefoil Texture die and is topped here with the outline in white called Quatrefoil Panel die.

The sentiment is a mixed font "Sending Hugs" from the Butterfly Trio stamp set. I'm in awe at the clean cuts around the letters that are more detailed than I'm used to seeing.

Hello Sunshine!

Two fun facts about me.. first I love die cuts! If you took away everything else in my craft room and just left my dies and cutter I'd still be a happy gal! Second, I love playing challenges that I find on line. I think they're a great place to find inspiration and to get a sense of community in the crafty world. I love to see what people are making with and challenge myself to do something I might not try otherwise all at the same time.

If you love die cuts like I do then you're probably familiar with Memory Box. Did you know that they are the parent company of both Poppystamps and Birch Press Design? Today my card features dies from Poppystamps because I'm joining them for this month's challenge called Summer Daze.

This time they're looking for hot/warm summer colors, sunny skies, way to keep cool and /or have fun in the sun. I thought this scene card was just the ticket.

I cut waves of grass from green cardstock and added a sweet Nordic Happy Fox with some florals and butterflies in a sunny scene card.

Smooth Sailing

Today I'm playing along at Inspiration Station Challenge where this is the mood board for this challenge...

We're going tropical, beach, seaside with this gorgeous photo! I picked up on the blues and greens to create my card!

I started with the Pink & Main Smooth Sailing sailboat that I colored with alcohol markers. I inked it in blues and greens! To create a focal point I double cut two nesting Stitched Circles to create a frame in white.

The background is an embossing folder called Beach Waves. First I applied distress ink to a panel of white cardstock. Next I embossed it, and finally I sanded it to reveal the white core paper under the ink.

The finishing touch was a sentiment from the same stamp set and circle for a sun and a sprinkle of sticky gems.
