12 Kits of Occasions is Out of This World!

Thanks for stopping by! There's so much going on today so I hope you take a look around. It's the last day of the month and you know what that means right? It's time for The 12 Kits of Occasions! The 12 Kits is a group of 12 friends who all love to paper craft. Every month we take turns providing a kit for the rest of the group. On the last day of the month we reveal what we made with the kit and share our designs. It's fun to see how our designs are the same or very different!

I am so excited to share that I am the host this month and I put together a kit that's just Out of this World! Everything in the kit has an "outer space" theme. There's Starshine papers from American Crafts and stamped images from Altenew, My Favorite Things, Reverse Confetti and Paper Smooches. I knew I wanted to try some different techniques for backgrounds so I included some watercolor, and bristol papers too.  Here's a little peek at the kit!

Whenever I receive a kit in the mail I place all the ingredients in a tray.  I mix and match elements - always trying to focus on what's in the kit.  When it's all over I look at what's left and call that my little "trixie".  I put this kit together so there shouldn't be anything I didn't work with.. but if I had to tell you to watch for one element this time it would be the Space Needle die cut.  Yes.. I know this is a Seattle landmark, but is sure looks like its from another world so I added it to the kit.  I think it would look right at home in any futuristic city!    Her'es a peek at the kit...

I invited a special friend - Richard Breaks - That's MISTER Cardmaker to you! to play along - he's been my guest since my very first kit and I am so happy he keeps coming back for more. Thanks for helping me choose a theme Richard!

We know the kit is more fun when YOU can play along too so we are gifting a kit every month. I couldn't resist having more than one prizes - so for this kit we have three lucky winners joining us!

This was the first card I made with the kit - I kept the card close to my work area to remind me to have fun with this - no stress LOL (I always panic a little when it's my turn to make the kit - worrying that it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

And all the rest came together easy peasy!  I hope the rest of the team agrees!

Want to see more cards made with this fun kit?  Head on over to The 12 Kits of Occasions Blog where you'll find a sample and link to each of the designers playing along today!   You might just win yourself a kit to join us too!

FUSION - SPRING / EASTER Inspired!

I hope you're having a wonderful day!  I'm keeping busy getting ready to move back into my craft room and trying to organize what's going back and where.  I feel another purge coming on! LOL!    It seems like I keep accumulating things - and lots of things I haven't used in a while.. glitter, flocking, felt, buckets of buttons..  my Sizzix big thick dies, and lots of Spellbinders too.  I really hate parting with any of it, because you know.. when you need it, you need it.   Seems like everything old is new again eventually too!   How do you decide what to keep?

A new challenge begins today at Fusion Card Challenge.  We have a beautiful Spring/ Easter table scape as inspiration, and if you're not feeling that.. you can always just follow the sketch!  I'm always trying to FUSE the two things together.. so here is my card with an Easter theme following the layout.
I started with some pretty papers from Simple Stories. These are from the EASTER 23" paper pack.   I cut one of the 3x4" cards with the bunny image down - trimming off the empty edges to make it smaller.

The pack also had a sticker sheet with sentiments and embellishments.  To make them easier to work with I dusted them with powder from my emboss buddy and adhered them with adhesive foam tape.

To break up all the patterns I added a border of solid card stock that was die cut with a Pretty Pink Posh stitched border.  Some shiny enamel dots look like candy (sorry no jelly beans!)
Want to play along too? or do you feel like you need a little more inspiration? Here's a link to my Fusion Card Challenge Teamies! Just click on their names to jump to their blog.

We sure hope you join us at Fusion Card Challenge! It's going to be egg-ceptionally fun!

CAS-ual Fridays So Pretty! New Release Peeks!

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  Today I'm showing a sneak peek of the newest CAS-ual Fridays release that hits the store on Friday, March 31.  Michele, the owner of CAS-ual Fridays is doing something a little different this release.  She's asked each of the DT members and a few guests to post just once before release day - a little teaser to get your attention.  On release day, March 31 - THIS FRIDAY- we're having a blog hop to celebrate!

There are six (6) new stamp sets this time and today we're showing So Pretty!

This is a great set of sentiments with a fun curlicue font!  These sentiments will make projects for all sorts of occasions a little more fun.

For my card today I stamped the new MODERN PETALS background with distress ink.  I used a stamping tool to line things up perfectly each time.  I inked up the stamp, spritzed it with water and stamped it on watercolor paper.  I changed the colors for each row for a rainbow colored background.
I thought these stamps would look even better stamped in color!  I stamped the sentiment for this card in fuchsia!

Wouldn't this make a great thank you card?  Or how about a pick me up for a Sistah?

Make sure you stop back on the 31st when we'll be having a blog hop and some terrific prizes like (5) $20 prizes and (1) grand prize of $50 to the CASual Fridays store!

Want to go shopping? There's lots of stamps in the sale section of the store, and yes.. you can double dip using my special code. Any commission that would normally be given to me has been redirected to CASual Fridays for their Calling All Sistahs Campaign to use toward breast cancer awareness and prevention. I do not accept any payment for products I use on my blog. I only work with products I love and would recommend.
