TYIC#35 Merry Ornament

I'm still loving my tags, and you just can't beat the inspiration twice a month at Tag You're It Challenge.  The inspiration design this time is from the Queen of Clean Tracey McNeely!  This one actually doesn't look so "Tracey" now does it?  She's got lots going on.. .lots of pattern paper, die cuts, pretty bow and even a jingle bell thrown into the mix!    Somebody better check on Miss Tracey!  LOL!!   What ever she's up to I'm lovin it!    All the things I like to play with on this tag today so here's what I came up with.

First.. what do I love about this?  Well lets just say EVERYTHING so I really didn't switch things up too much.  I have a different shape ornament and color scheme but so many things are just the same.  The ornament, holly leaves, pattern paper, word die, jingle bell, metallic twine bow - all the same.

I don't see a string on Tracey's but I added a jumbo eyelet and solid Blossom Twinery Twine to mine.

I hope you play along too - this one was so fun!!!   You can get more inspiration from the Design Team and link up your designs here at the Tag You're It Challenge!

The Card Concept #44 Festive Glory

Another stunning challenge inspiration photo from The Card Concept!  This one is called "Festive Glory" and there are so many elements to choose from the inspiration photo.  Look around...  what do you see?  gingham, stripes, warm colors... did you see the sleigh in the photo over the mantle?   I see snowflakes, poinsettias, candles, and so much more.

I started with papers in warm colors like those in the photo.  I wanted to create a cabin Christmas feel.  I'm going ot classify this one as Freestyle collage mostly because I added elements that seem unrelated like the button, twine and wood veneer sequins.

To achieve the two tone look on the tree I inked it with Memento Bamboo ink, and then rolled the edges in Cottage Ivy.  I think it adds a bit of dimension and depth to the stamped image.   The image is from Waltzingmouse Stamps "Rustic Christmas".

I stamped the tree on some ledger print paper.  This keeps the empty spaces at either corner of the top from looking "blank".  A sprinkle of wood veneer sequins also adds a little interest and rustic feel to the design.

I love adding twine to my projects - it seems to "anchor" elements so they don't look like they're floating.   I used Twinery Platinum Twine - it has a bit of sparkle to it - perfect for the holidays.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day~!

CASology - Pretty = FLOWERS!

It's seriously a very gloomy day here in the Chicago area. I was ready for the grey November sky - it will be like this for a month - and still November is my favorite time of year... but today it's windy and rainy on top of the grey skies. Where we live is in the path of lots of migratory birds.  I was shocked when I let Moriko outside earlier.  I wish I could play you a tape of what the woods behind the house sound like today.  It's like the birds have decided to make a stop over here and wait out the rain.  The chirping is loud and there have to be hundreds of birds!

When I saw the cue word at CASology I thought I'd dig out some PRETTY flowers to brighten my day.  That is the biggest perk of crafting - I can paint my world any color I like!    I miss my garden of flowers but the foliage is still turning - most of it is gone - the oaks and a few other trees are hanging on as long as they can.

These two stamp flowers with a pop of yellow and a sprinkle of pearls absolutely fit the bill for today!
I hope you find some time to color your world today!
