Retro Sketches - Birthday Wishes

Hi friends!  Thanks for stopping by for a visit!  I've been a very busy girl!  I just finished all the projects for the Memory Box 2016 Holiday Release look book.  I completed and photographed  32 projects and sent them off to be edited and put into the electronic book.  I'll be sure to let you know when it's ready to see!

I'm still battling a few personal problems too.  One day at a time.   It seems like it's been one thing after another and I feel like I've let myself go a bit.  I just start feeling sorry for myself and sometimes forget to count my blessings and see how fortunate I really am.   When I left the dentist last Thursday I stopped and got my hair cut for the first time this year.  And I have to say it really made me feel better!  I'm going to try to have a better attitude about things.  I even braved the heat today to walk Miss Moriko (or did she walk me?)

Today I'm playing along with Retro Sketches!  I've got to tell you I really love a sketch challenge - it really makes it easy to grab you're latest favorite stamp set and just follow the design.  All the hard work has been done - no figuring out what layout for your image.

I took a few liberties with this sketch, the rectangle in the center is now a circle, and I put sentiment and the little dots around the image in different places!  They weren't cooperating exactly where they were in the sketch.   I think the creative process is more about having fun - and bending the rules when you feel the need.

All the supplies I used for my design are from Reverse Confetti!  I love the new Candles 'n Confetti stamp set.  You can make as many cakes as you like with different patterns - no baking involved!
I felt like my background papers were "eating each other"  AKA fading into each other so I added a bold hot pink stripe of pattern paper to separate them.  That's my favorite little trick when using pattern papers.
I color coordinated the hot pink enamel dots to match the stamping on the cake and the scallop border.  This color combo always reminds me of raspberry Lemonade.
I added some bitty gems to the flower centers for some sparkle and shine and a bit of twine to tie everything together.
I hope you're doing good and find some time to play this week .  I'm hoping to play more challenges when I can - maybe I'll see you around!

  3. Jeanne, this bright and happy card is perfection! I LOVE the bold pink paper and knowing the reason you chose it.
Your cards are beautiful and so are you. Take life a bit easy as you can. Yes, my Josie "walked" me today and in spite of the heat it really made me feel better. Hoping to cheer you, just like seeing your cards does for me.
