Jillibean Soup Repetitive Stamping

Hi and thanks for stopping by! Today I’m sharing three cards with repetitive background stamping. All three cards are made with the Jillibean Soup Spoonful of Soul stamp set.
This bright lemon background is the easiest of the three cards. This is a great place to start if you are a beginner at background stamping. First, never be afraid to trim your stamps. I cut the stem and leaf from the lemon image. It’s easier to stamp the separated lemon in yellow, and the cut stem and leaf in green.
Sometimes solid stamps are hard to ink. I prefer to use a pigment ink vs a dye based ink. A pigment ink has particles suspended in it so the ink floats on the surface of the paper vs. being absorbed into it. The thicker ink gives better coverage over solid stamps.
I stamped the lemon randomly across my paper panel using a stamping tool. Make sure you leave room to add the stem and leaf in green later. A stamp tool is very helpful because it will allowed you to double ink the image for even better coverage. Fill the empty areas with a smaller image – like the flower – in a complimentary color.
Another way to background stamp is to stamp an image in a row. Again, a stamping tool provides the ability to move your paper panel the same distance between every image.
Another way to help you keep images in line is to stamp on paper with a pattern. I scored lines on my white card stock panel making squares to stamp the heart inside.
The scored lines give an embossed look adding a rich and expensive look to the design.
My final card has a shaker feature. I used the flowers and leaves in the stamp set to create a background design. I cut the panel with the butterfly die in the Thankful Butterfly set to create a window in the panel for a shaker.
I placed acetate behind the open butterfly die cut window and then added adhesive foam tape around the window. I filled the framed area with ombre sequins in pinks and red and added a piece of pink All About Plaid paper to seal the shaker pocket. The assembled shaker panel was then adhered to the card base.
There’s lots of possibilities for beautiful backgrounds! I hope you find some time to play today!
