Seems like time is flying for me lately -so many things to do... so little time. Thanks for all your well wishes this week for my son Roger. He had a good meet on Saturday and came in 6th for his cross country team - so he has placed the varsity team. Looks like one of those expensive letter jackets is in his near future!
He's attending a big, over the top, sweet 16 party this weekend and I've had to do a little running around getting him to practice. He is included in a group of teenagers who will be doing a waltz. They will be wearing matching ties and vests with their suits, so I had to get him fitted for that as well. Can you believe he even went so far as to ASK for a haircut? I thought I was in a dream for a minute! First a Waltz??? and then ... gasp... a hair cut?
We've also been doing some work in the yard - my daughter and I tackled a Wisteria I bought years ago... it has never bloomed but I thought the vines on the side of the house were romantic and gave some character to the yard. Well, I learned my lesson - they've made it up to the second floor and are starting to take apart the siding, so drastic measures had to be taken. While we did that DH and son were placing landscaping blocks for a small fenced area to hide (I mean place) the big giant garbage and recycle bins the town has distributed.
Today I'm playing along with the Tuesday Throwdown. The theme this week is Fall Color. My favorite paper for fall has been the Prairie Hill collection by Pink Paislee. I stamped my image on acetate with Staz on ink. I wanted to try a new technique vs the traditional coloring of the stamped image. I took a piece of white card stock and blended 3 colors of Ranger Distress ink into layers to make background. Anya Schrier has a good tutorial for this here. This was fun and easy to create - and no coloring!
Thanks for having a look - I hope you find some time this week to play along!Hugs!

Just gorgeous Jeanne!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful technique, give an almost rainbow effect...love those quail and it was so nice to see another way to use them without having to color. Once again, you tied a perfectly beautiful bow and the patterned pape choice was spot on for the quail.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous, Jeanne! LOVE that image and the yummy font, and your ink blending is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I didn't know that orange and light blue went so well together :) They are gorgeous! Love the three colors behind the quails, too. And wow it sounds like your son is a part of one of those MTV Super Sweet 16 parties!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, and I love your blended ink technique. Sounds like you son is growing up, and that party sounds like a blast.
ReplyDeleteI keep looking at the card trying to figure out how you did this. Guess I will have to check that out. Well , its just gorgeous! I am all about not having to color an image this is a beautiful way.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great time for you and your son. I love the way the Wisteria vines look. Sounds like a lot of work though.
Congrats to your son--so glad he made varsity! Your card is absolutely stunning!! Love the colors! And the orange paper behind the quail image is especially striking! Love your blended background and the ribbon treatment!
