The 12 Kits of Christmas came about when Suzanne and Renee decided to be better prepared for sending Christmas cards the coming year. To keep each other from straying from their commitment they decided to challenge each other with themes, supplies, and sketches. This idea bloomed into the 12 Kits of Christmas (a play on the 12 Days of Christmas).
Here's how it works: There are 12 designers - each will play hostess for one month. The hostess will put together 12 identical kits in their own unique style that will include paper, stamped images, die cuts, and embellishments. The 12 designers of The 12 Kits of Christmas group are challenged to create a Christmas card using the ingredients supplied by the hostess of the month. Creations will be revealed at 12:01am ET on the last day of each month.
Renee started the ball rolling for 2012 with a great package of goodies... die cuts from Cheery Lynn, Memory Box, and Papertrey Ink. She also included velvet ribbons, seam binding, jingle bells, twine, buttons and stamped images from Waltzingmouse and Papertrey. Paper is from October Afternoon Holiday Style. The color scheme she selected was classic red, white and green. Here's a shot of the package of goodies... How could you go wrong with this bundle of goodness???
I went with the silhouette image from PTI's In the Meadow and made a classic holiday scene. All the items used have been supplied by Renee EXCEPT for the card backing, frame, silver tag, and the crochet lace. If you are curious and would like to see what the other ladies came up with - feel free to blog hop along. Maybe jingle all the way? Oh... and did I mention that there is a little blog candy to be had??? Just leave a little love (a sweet comment) on each of the blogs and you will be entered to win - it's that simple! I knew this was going to be good. I cant believe what you have created and I see so much of the kit in this beautiful card! Its just stunning! I love the sleigh with the sparkly hills! Nice! Love how you cut the die up to put in the corners of the card too.
ReplyDeleteHow in the world did you come up with this? I had the exact same things and would never have been able to come up with it. I love the way you wove the ribbon through the lace, the sleigh silhouette in the frame with the patterned paper background, every single element is perfect. Gorgeous card Jeanne.
ReplyDeleteOK...
ReplyDeleteI quit!
This is so gorgeously stunning...and I have to agree with Cathy...
we had the SAME ingredients and I could have never come up with this...
from now on I'm going to wait and see what you do and just steal it and claim it as mine...
*giggle*
I LOVE that frame...
so perfect for the sled.
And the lace...
ribbon...
all of it's just gorgeous!
And you know I'm just kidding about stealing and claiming...
right? ;)
Now I have to go to bed before I get arrested for theft...
*giggle*
OH, Jeanne! Gorgeous!! I love every single element on this card, and there are so many! I love that your snowy scene takes place inside the die... it almost makes it look like a snowglobe! I love that you added the pearls to the snowflakes, and the layering of the ribbons and patterned paper. The buttons on the snowflakes, and the neat sentiment die all tie together to make one fabulous card :)
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible! Wow! I love every little detail, from the tiny gems on the snowflakes to the stars on the sides of the frame to the way you cut up the label die to embellish the corners. Fabulous!

ReplyDeleteI love how you created that oval window with so much going on inside. You have created an entire scene. And the background outside is super, too. You used more embellishments and goodies in your one card than I did in my three. I need to take a lesson from you. Absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThis is just so breath taking! So beautiful adn elegant and love how you were so creative and cut up the dies to make the trim around the winter scene. Just beautiful and looking forward to CAS'ing this one.
