Love Is When We're Together

Have you seen the newest paper collection from Pretty Little Studio? It's called Love is Kind! You'll find lots of beautiful in this collection with fun prints, bold colors and messages of love.

I'm smitten with the new papers that have a mixed media look. They take all the guess work out of mixing and matching prints because it's already been done for you.

There's lots of embellishments too! For this card I stacked a 3x4 journaling card that had a preprinted sentiment, with a frame and then added die cut clouds with adhesive foam tape. I wanted them to rain hearts and shower love on the recipient.

A tab and mini sticker sentiment are added to the top of the journaling card, and to add a little more interest I tucked a die cut scallop border along the left edge.

Everything comes together beautifully because it's all color coordinated to match. The hardest part is deciding what to make first!

You & Me

Today I'm playing at Word Power where words should be the focus of your design. It's almost June and that's got me thinking of June weddings and LOVE!

My card starts with a background of fun Sweet Daisy die cuts. They always remind me of daisy chain crowns and picking the petals one at a time always hoping I land on "he loves me".

The Sweet Daisy die set includes two different size daisies, their centers, and two size leaves. I cut the leaves in lots of different shades of green to try to add some dimension tot he design.

I topped the florals with a great big you and me handwritten font sentiment in gold and white.

The background is cut with the A6 Lacy Layers. The largest layer is a stitched rectangle, the next largest size is a Pierced Scallop edge rectangle, and that repeats for all the layers of the nested set.

I hope you have time to smell the flowers and day dream about your love.

Postage Collage The Pond

Today I'm playing along at Just Us Girls Challenge where its anything goes with a stencil! I love the Postage Collage series from Waffle Flower and they always have something new and fun they're adding to the collection.

This stencil is called The Pond. It's GORGEOUS! I love the swans, frogs, flowers and Koi fish! It was lots of fun coloring the designs and watching them come to life.

I always hate stamping them because I'm so worried about messing up the stencil work, but I'm getting better at having more confidence, and I haven't had many mishaps in the past. I used two postage series stamp sets - the "Love" one for the heartfelt messages, and the Postal Collage original set for the watermark, "forever" and amounts.

I used the Postal Collage Coloring stencil set to create the striped background. I used blue and green to coordinate with the inked designs.

The Gift Of You Birthday Wishes

Today I'm playing along at Seize The Birthday where this time they want you to use a frame on your design.

My card starts with an embossed background using the Pink & Main Knit Sweater folder. I ran a pink ink pad over the raised design to bring out the texture.

No worries if you don't have a frame die - just make your own! I used a Scallop Oval die with a smaller Layered Oval placed inside to create a frame. The frame makes the perfect focal point for the Birthday Cake.

The cake is from The Gift of You stamp set. I inked it with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with alcohol makers. I cut the sentiment with a 1/2" sentiment strip. They come in three different sizes and I always keep them handy!

The finishing touch is a sprinkle of pink gems

A Patchwork of Happiness

Today I'm playing along at Creative Knockouts where this time it's about stitching.. real or faux. I thought this sewing themed card would be just the thing!

My card starts with that quilt look background. I cut the Waffle Flower Tiny Squares Texture die from white cardstock. Next I inked it with the Quilted Petals stencil. There are other stencils that work beautifully with the textured background to create quilt look designed backgrounds.

I used a Quilted Frame to create a focal point for that vintage sewing machine from the Sew Fun die set. It includes lots of little extras including the bobbins, buttons, thimble and scissors.  A bit of vellum inside the frame tones down the bright background so it doesn't overpower the design.

The sentiment is from the Quilted Hug stamp set. There's a coordinating die set that fussy cuts the sewing themed sentiments.
